I've got the same problem as ilen, after replacing transistor to IRLR2905, i've got error P1630 - critical system malfunction 1, after erasing car throwing error due first second of crancking. Engine won't start.

X22DTH Checking Procedure says: "The current consumption of the injection fuel quantity solenoid valve is out of range"

By-passing the current sense resistor with wire from gnd pin to transistor's source gives nothing.

H7 bulb soldered to solenoid valve wires flashes due cranking, with the same error. There's no error code only when the solenoid valve isn't connected to PSG5 unit.

    Can someone help?

Oh, and i forgot, the pump is buzzing all the time when ignition is on, and buzzing for about one second when it powered only by pin 6 and 7, car ecu is disconected.

    Hi all,
I have on the desk one repaired PSG5 from other people.
Worked few times ok, but now I can?t connect on the desk directly via OPCOM. One needle from Mosfet has bad contact to PCB. When I solder it back, or replace transistor and resolder back. Is this solution for diag issue? Many thanks for information.

    Hello,
Care must be taken that the wires of the pressure sensor are not stripped and touch the outside of the pump.

here is changed voltage regulator 7805 and transistor. This is not my picture, i found it on the web, maybe on this forum

For my previous problem with my car, with p1630 - critical system malfunction error, i bought another vp44 pump and change the psg5 unit with fuel metering solenoid valve. Now car works fine, starts like a charm.

    my pump was 0470504009, psg number 0281 001 827
new pump was 0470504004, the same psg number

    Regards for all!!

    Hi All,
My local garage has asked me to have a look a Transit 2.4 (2003) which died suddenly on the motorway.
    The fault codes are:
P1664 - injection pump control module malfunction.
P1564 - injection pump control module requesting reduced fuelling.
Looking under the bonnet it looks like the Bosch VP44 being discussed in this thread.
    My questions to you are:
    1. In your experience do the fault codes above suggest a EDC fault rather than a mechanical fault ?
    2. Is the LR2905Z a suitable replacement for the original device ?
    3. The fet and/or 5Vreg replacement procedures outlined in this thread are interesting, I have the relevant soldering equipment and skills to solder these devices to the substrate but there have been quite a few references to potting these devices using a thermally conductive adhesive. Which is the preferred method ?

With over 40 yrs experience of soldering this fixing method is second nature but my thoughts are "why did the OEM use welded aluminium rather than solder ?" Operating temperature comes to mind !
I can see that using a thermally conductive adhesive could give an advantage over solder if potted correctly ! I have no experience of this method (long term reliability).
This method goes against my training and gut feeling ( a replacement component must itself be able to be replaced ! ) as most power devices use the tab as an electrical conductor as well as heat dissipation, an epoxy glue as fixing method seems alien.
Then again back in the day these new "transistor devices" seemed alien to me as an apprentice TV engineer, what's wrong with valves? You could watch BBC1 or ITV and heat your house !!!!!!!!
Your thoughts and/or advice would be appreciated.
    Regards to all.

    Good afternoon,

I have a vp44 pump that replaces the transistor, it went well only that it now marks breakdown in the advance sensor and does not mark fuel temperature and does not accelerate.

What do you advise to do?
