Not alot of people know that, run cold water over the rice before you cook it.
Rinse rice with cold water in a sieve.
Put some water in the kettle and switch on
Heat oil on med to high heat and stir fry rice for 1 min
Add a pinch of salt (you can also add some other seasoning/spices at this stage)
add hot water to just cover the rice by 1/4 inch and put lid on. Do not stir it
Turn down heat as low as it will go
Cook for around 10-12 mins then turn off heat and leave lid on for 5 mins - fluff up with a fork and enjoy!

Another thing my mrs does is use a vegatable stock cube in the rice while cooking, your tasste buds come alive when you taste the rice mmm.
You can add a little finely chopped spring onion to the oil before adding the rice - just brown it a little to bring out the flavour. (Throw in a few peas and sweetcorn, chopped ham, cooked shrimps at the end and you have a meal!).
just do it...
running the rice under the tap before hand washes some of the starch off it stopping it all stinking together and becoming stodgy.......NOT stiring is vital.
everytime i make rice it comes out hard except pudding rice in the oven now that is good
You can also soak the rice in warm water for an hour before cooking. This makes the rice soft!
Thanks for the tip. By perfect do you mean that the rice will remain firm. I hate soggy rice, but my wife thinks that soggy rice is perfect.
my way is to put the basmati rice in a bowl of cold water and leave for 30 mins. Then drain off the water
meanwhile boil some water in a pan.
transfer the rice to the boiling water and boil between 4 and 5 mins, any longer and it will start to go too soft.
thats a good idea thanks
i make your rice and it's taste great
It is a healthier food to eat!!!!
I don't rinse my rice. It looses all the minerals.
just rinse a little bit, it's ok
