Welcome to the forum. The narration can be turned off via the audio button on your remote.

The red stickies at the top of the section will help you with firmware and scanning.

Hello m8, go to a voice over channel, press the RED button on remote, select the other english option and press OK.

merry christmas everyone.....i'm afraid i'm a newbee ive been trying to sort out my ex1000sl box but i can only recieve the free to air channels! i have downloaded to firmware and followed the excellent guide from this site but yet still all the channels are scrambled! tried a factory reset and search which picks up all the channels but all say scrambled : ( what would happen if i put the normal firmware onto a cloned box? and could i rectify this? really not sure where to go with this? also there is no LED display on the front (confusing when it says look for (----) or some numbes) any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi m8, are you sure the firmware loaded proper?
go into menu system and post the info there
    menu>config>system info>ok.

Also make sure the emulation is enabled
menu>lang settings>ok>1968>emulation>ok>enabled>green button to save and exit.

hi badapple hope you're well ive just looked on the language settings as you say and the codes i've been putting for 5401 do not match the ones on here??? so i've re-entered them here and i'll give that a try.
    also the settings read as
    DVB-XC BoxS TDA
    1.0 ST4 feb 24 2009
    2.0tS
    v001
    Kuro

    thanks for any help

Hi m8, the firmware on your box is up to date and will auto roll the cod*s.
    Did you enable the emulation?
menu> lang settings> ok> press1968 > emulation> ok > enabled > green button to save and exit then leave on a pay channel to update.
