addons like dlc and the like need to be installed on a JTAGED box and wont run on a flashed unit without it.
The only way to get DLC otherwise is from the marketplace.

Game Add-On
My 360 is softmodded and I was wondering if or how I can get game updates and add-ons? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does this mean I can plug my ethernet cable back in and take updates? As long as I don't go on Live I'll be fine?

You have to connect to live to take update. And yes this could lead to a ban if microsoft can pick up that your box is flashed.
