    no, I checked twice..

but what I write Samaelson will back idea to the game.. The question is, where I saw these eeprom...

Are you sure you use a 16bit EEPROM or is the bit arrangement transparent for the FTDI?
wau, 8bit eeprom shouldn't works... what is from this datasheet, strange... (I have 16bit)

"FT232B, FT245B, FT2232D, FT2232H and FT4232H do not have any internal EEPROM. These need to be
connected to an external EEPROM such as the 93C46, 93C56 or 93C66 to configure device?s setting.
Note. The EEPROM used must be of a type with a 16-bit width.

If I buy a 10.6.2 cable is it posible to dump the eeprom and firmware to flash my old 908 cable?

    Problem with "SAVE CODING".
Why my 10.6.2 doesn't save new long coding?

channel of measuring blocks and adaption work.

My old 10.6.0 (1.81) works fine.

    Hello , I have a
    FTDI 232BL + 93c46
and I have remove the vcc of the 93c46 (PIN 8), what sorprese it is a hex-usb interface and I can?t erase o reprogram it with Mprog, allwais is a hex-usb

    http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/data...4/443170_1.pdf

In datasheet says when vcc is over 2.8 volts is in "data protection mode"

ohh man, that's crazy .. I'll try soon, because what I cannot imagine how eeprom works if power supply is missing..
(probably inside is some diode..so eeprom is powered..)

what do you want exactly? ATMEGA is reprogrammed by MOSI/MISO (SPI) or JTAG(you need enabled configuration pin for enabled access for JTAG module - is one of configuration locks bits)

EEPROM should be reprogram externaly or with "normal" configuration and MPROG..

btw, from the picture (higher resolution should be better), I saw that you connect USB pins directly to the FTDI chip(?).. Please don't forget that serial 22R-27R resistor or choke is recommended

I am reading these last posts regarding ftdi eeprom, what's the all commotion about this, if you have ok atmega content then there is no problem with ftdi eeprom that's all, stay away form interfaces with ftdi 232RL and you will be happy.

    Hi again,

also use NM93CS46 from fairchild semi istead of st:

    FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR|NM93CS46N|EEPROM SERIAL 1K, 93CS46, DIP8 | element14 Singapore

How can that be if the original EEPROM in my cable (Microchip 93C56A) is only 8bit ?!?!?!?!?!

This is very strange!!! But I need to recheck if my EEPROM is really a 93C56A or 93C56B.

If it's a "B" the arrangement is 16bit and that will make sense why you can work with yours. Yours is only a 8bit for sure.

That's why Samaelson pointed for a ST EEPROM 93C**16 bit...

I am quite sure there's a problem in the word arrangement...

But if mine is really a 8 bit... WTF?!?! This make no sense at all...

Only if the ATMEGA is not read/write protected.

If it isn't protected you can read the dump and reflash where you want.

If it's protected forget about that... you can read the ATMEGA.

I'm found also, but I haven't found source for buy this eeprom because looks like that is EOL for long time ago..

Today I want to try two things
    1. 'disconnect' power supply for normal 93C46
    2. try different (should be buy) parts 93S46, this pinning isn't 100% compatible, but should be used .. Farnell parts: 9882731.. we will see what tell FTDI on this parts
