for the price of a genuine one they are worth it , not many original tools are as cheap , if you have a garage ?300 isnt a lot for an entry tool like this with free updates for ever

i had to get another laptop for garage and see vcds is installed but an older version 11 or 12 i think,next door has a higher think it was 15?. question is i want to get a usb lead to work are they all the same on fleabay as some state older versions and others latest.

Hello all, have few questions about upgrading fw of my clone cable (please see attached photos).
Now its running 1.84fw and 10.6.4 vcds version. I would like to upgrade to latest available fw 1.92. Just want confirmation from you guys that all steps are correct. By the way, for upgrading atmega I will use usbasp programmer. So the steps to update are:
1. Connect usbasp to atmega like in attached photo. One more question, can i use 12v power from pc power supply?
2. Have to flash atmega with eXtremeburner by using epprom - vers 6 11.11.5-12.12.0_eeprom 512 rl.hex, for flash - flash_192.hex, and for fuse bit seetings - security bits 320 bits.JPG
3. Have to flash FTDI chip with MProg with VCDSFT232BL.ept
4. Install VCDS-Release-12.12.0-Installer English 512bits.exe
Did I miss something? Thank you

Just flashed my cable, all working as it should. FW 1.92 now, and 12.12 working, just did autoscan, no problems.

If you need longcoding you should use 11.11.5.

I have the same clone and same problem, my cable is 15.7.0
This Software versi?n is chinnese cracked, and dont start if cable not is Ok, I think Atmega162 is gone but Fw.1.94 not available yet, or yes?

chinnese VCDS 15.7.0 not run without usb connected, nothing happen when run vcds.

I see several users with same problem in the same time, you can try to change date/time (ex. 01.07.2016 or earlyer+no internet) an see if it hepls to let it run.

15.7.0-STC, not ok as-is. Too many stc errors.
