This interface is China invention HW with ARM CPU (not with ATMEGA162 as original has). This interface will NEVER be supported by Kolimer's loader. It's not V2 as described by sellers, but china HW in V2 cover.

Hi guys,


Today I found my Chinese clone VCDS cable which is still working with the supplied (cracked) VCDS 15.7.0 software.
I opened the cable and it looks very much like type HW 0x46.
(pin 34+35 of ATMega162 are not connected to the ATF16V8B)


I tried to read HW type using VAGCOM_HWType.exe, and hangs for a while and then says no reply.


What could be the cause?

If you read thread careful you will find answer. Run 15.7 software, do test to unlock atmega, than run VAGCOM_HWType.exe
Instruction for flashing your interface you will find on this thread also. Need to remove stc and few other components, or just break connection from stc, I think picture is even in instructions you already have. Just read careful

you have to plug vcds cable to 12V

solution is put date back to 1 November and work again (or use runasdate)
i am using Pt version 17.1.3

most vag cable version hw with ATMEGA + FTDI chips support reprogramming like vag 11.11.3, vag 16.8.4, one kind need active 16.8.3 only support english version ,vag 17.1.0 . other like use original software (not office cable) it is used NEC project, we test different FT232 chips, there is no obvious difference. and Thanks kolimer and other friends!!

Just tried it again and now it works:
FW Version : 1.94
HW Version : 0x46
Identification : ROSS-USA

*EDIT* ah I read that it has worked now because I started 15.7 sw to unlock ATMega. Thanks!


I will order an AVR programmer and try the upgrade!

I had a broken interface which was HW version 0x44 but had the so called "bootloader" inside.
So I could easily upgrade it using VAGCOM_EEWrite.exe

Would it be possible to insert this bootloader in a cable which doesn't have it?
Or does it require special hardware?

Hi guys i'm sorry to ask i now that probably somewere there is the answer but im not able to find on 353 pages i have a china vag com 912 with FT232RL can i update it to the last version? do you have any stable version to suggest? And finally were i can found a tutorial to follow to update? all the link that i found are down pls help me, tks
