@hid3 I will look into that interface, thanks. Is that website trustworthy as I never heard of it before?
RL and RQ are just different chip packages (layouts or how to explain). By technical parameters they are identical.
Someone from this thread has bought from that site and received the actual product so I guess it can be trusted.

    1. 12 V connected, right?
    2. you changed the PID to FA20 in the HWInfo tool, right?

lemta, if it makes you happy you can find even identitcal hardware to R0$$-Tech's ("Proudly made in the USA"). That way you'd be sure you have absolutely right thing. Someone has bought such interface on Aliexpress, there was a post here, just do a search
    Attachment 513974Attachment 513975

    Here it is: http://www.obd2tuning.com/vcds-kabel...at-p-2749.html

Just to help other people thinking of buying this interface from this website, I contacted the poster that bought from there. He advised me that the interface didn't work out of the box; chinese sellers asked him to register with them and sent some files and it still wouldn't work. So online update feature doesn't work it seems. He then had to flash it with Kolimers files to get it working.

All that Chinese software and gossips aren't worth the paper which they are printed on.
I tell this to everyone - remember, you are buying just hardware. Ignore anything what the description says about the version, updates etc.
Once you get the hardware, just flash Kolimer's stuff and enjoy.

    @hid3:

When i told "maybe that regulator is not made for 1A, but only 300mA" i told about parameters of 7805.
    From datasheet:

3-Terminal 1A Positive Voltage Regulator. That is description of 78xx series of Fairchild, b.e.
One of this will be only warm in vcds cable.

Oh, I thought that the cable was draining 1 A That'd be some serious shit. A month ago I measured the current with the cable connected to just +12V and it was a hair less than 10 mA, IIRC.

Can someone tell me if any soldering is needed to program the above Hex-V2 interface. It has a port for programming in picture 2 - would I just connect the USBASP connector to the programming port or would I need to solder the wires?

    Thanks in advance.

No need to solder. You just wire cable connector together with usbasp connector and make sure wires do not touch each other.
    Easy job.

Thanks for the picture. Could you possibly show another picture (if it's not too much trouble) to show how it's connected at the interface as well as USBASP? There's no pictures on this thread of how people are connecting their interfaces - it would be very helpful for newbies like myself. Also do you have the Hex-V2 from obd2cartool or a different interface? Many many thanks friend!

I will not post it because I have different connector inside cable.

    Pinout for hex v2
    20180308_205847.jpg
Gnd is on pin 14. I ordered a hex v2 from an aliexpress from autox431 but the interface did not have an atmega chip. I ordered a better hex v2 from atmega from the eobtool store.

This interface does NOT need wiring at all. It already has got Kolimer's stuff inside and can be reflashed by USB.
