Well, if you read carefully, I told _controllers_

Yeah, I did see them.. My cheap interface also has got transistors versus the controllers. K-line may work - I don't have such a car to test it,

These 1AM transistors are actually pretty good unlike those with J3Y marking, i replaced hundreds of them and maybe only 3-4 1AM, anyway option with ISO 9141 controllers much better except when Chinese put false marking SI9241 on LM393 then you get real treat

Maybe someone has got 17.8.1 installer of Dutch language (Netherlands)? Would like to test it with v6.3.

I told him to buy another one from obd2cartool and keep this interface as spare parts donor.

No need to keep this one for spares.
All is fine with it!
Except that it has got K-line driven by transistors rather than proper controllers.
K-line will function fine...

Just you asked for some comments and I provided.
Not worth to spend money only to get a cable with proper K-line unless your friend will be working often on older pre-CAN cars

The important parts are FTDI, Atmega162, GAL16V8, MCP2515 and the TLE6250 1MBit CAN Transceiver. It even got protection diodes on the CAN bus lines, so no need to buy a new cable. 9241 K-Tranceivers are nice to have, but not needed for CAN. This cable should work just fine.

I just wonder what the GAL-chip is needed for. It is connected in between the FTDI and Atmega and the 9241 drivers and atmega. It is a really old programmable logic chip, so I think it's not easily replaceable. I never saw a firmware for this thing.

I found the 17.8.1. It seems that they are asking 3 Euros for the CD in a box,

You need to look at the bottom/right side of the same page, click last tab and there will be the download.

On my pc-s work only on Chrome.
IE, Mozilla..nothing happend if "Bijlagen" click.

GAL dump exist for "44" only.
For "46" not extracted yet (or not public)

I have same interface. Anyone knows if it is usable with MQB platform? I can't coding "09-centr. Elect." Only adaptation and also with "13.Auto Dist Reg" and with "4B.Multifunc Module" that are shown as incompatible with interface.

Cant get to connect...no led when connected to comp, computer says no.
