I have vcds 12.1 clone , but using genuine serial number
what version of vcds is ok to use with it .?
using outdated version 8.something .
need newer version for 2008 + audi

Hy,
I am trying to fix a vcds with FTDIRL, so when I opened I saw traces of solder wire on MCP2515 and ATmega162, although GAL is in his place, and the other 3 parts: R51 .. etc;
It may have been possible to be repaired without removing the GAL??? Because are no signs of soldering traces on Gal.

I already tryed to reflash Atmega and FTDIRL ( without removing parts) , first time I used 11.2 dump and second time with 11.11 dump.
Results: NO LUCK
-for 11.11 dump - when I conect the cable to the car I got this error : Status: Selft test failed! If I test the cable not conected to car no error;
-for 11.2 error :Interface status= -2...Firmaware update needed.

this crap is without atmega and gal/pal

The uC is a NEC, right? Not an ATMEGA162.

This is the worst hardware revision I've ever seen.

A couple months ago I ordered one. The salesman told me that it has an ATMEGA and FT232BL. When it arrived, the pain began. The cable had a NEC uC.

My fix was simple:

Remove the FT232BL and other IC's for spare parts and bin the rest

Worked great but at some point it does not work.
Flashing red light?
atmega is programmed ok!
93C46 is ok
I make some test programs VCDS - it behaves as if there was no communication with the car.
help?

So, when flashing red led?
When power on?
Light red and after green or red an red-flash?
If red-redflash see the solders, maybe an imperfect-contact on CI
