    Maybe as simple as wrong VID/PID? Can you extract any useful information about it in Device manager?

    If not then it's probably FT2323RQ faulty...

    PS: you mentioned that cable changed - I assumen you soldered all the pins and correctly
    I can calculate ABS module codings for:
    * Continental/Teves MK60EC1 and MK60;
    * TRW systems in Passat B6 / B7 / CC /Tiguan;
    * MK100
    ;
    * Bosch ABS8.2, ABS9.0 and ESP8.2, ESP9.0;
    * EBC 460 (UP!, Mii, Rapid, CitiGo, Fabia, Toledo, etc) New!
    *
    ... and other VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda modules.I can assist with repairing \/CDS interfaces.

    Pics was taken before starting to investigate... all 4 wires are soldered back to their places...

    Long story, short: some times cable was seen ok, other times Usb device not recognized....and now not recognized at all...maybe RQ is gone..usually BM/BL has this problem, never happened with RL/RQ

    Dev Manag. Hard Ids. :usb/unknown

    Well, shit sometimes happen with RL/RQ too. Any chance you have a spare FT232RQ?

    Yes, it's genuine one, probably from ~2009-2014 year era. If Atmega EEPROM is stock and not blacklisted there, you could have used it without any loaders.
    Now if you replace the RQ, then it becomes not genuine. Uncle R0$$ wants big bucks to "repair" it, otherwise they will do nothing to help you in that matter.

    alexm1, maybe you're lucky and it's just a broken usb cable.. try to change it completely and solder on a new one. Or maybe you've mixed the USB D+ and D- lines.
    If it doesn't help, it's propably the FT232 but honestly I really don't think that it's the FT

    Thats not good.. well you can still save the interface but you're propably gonna need to use the loader.
    You can cut the traces to the defective ftdi and hook up a eb*y FTDI usb-to-serial converter to the atmega. Should work but it's more like a "last chance fix".

    1. that cable is not one original, not a golden pcb.
    2. on chinese cables in general colors are not as they normal should be. best way is to take a multimeter and measure your cable then solder it.
    If you like my post and it helped you please press THANKS.

    Use the software from the cd/link, provided with the cable, otherwise you will have a non-working cable.
    If you need a newer version for your cable you need to learn how to flash you cable, using only loader+last vers of software will not work for you.
    To learn how to reflash Atmega...you need time read this thread. But to not lose your time...wait for the cable , share pics ..and if youre lucky you will get one with Atmega and after that will have a good reason to read.
