I didn't short circuit anything and didn't reflash ft232 . There was no mention about that in info.pdf. Is there any guides for that?

    According to Info.pdf:

    Hardware with STC chip
Before programing cut line from pin 9 of STC. No need to do more then that or remove it.

What happens if you try to reflash the interface with "VAGCOM_EEWrite.exe"?

As far as I know only the real V2 RT interfaces are compatible with new MQB platform...

Hi everyone, i'm new on this forum and i wanted to update my VAG HEX+CAN 17.8 ENG clone to 18.2 ENG /17.8 ITA. According to "VAGCOM HW Type" i have a FW version 1.96, HW version 0x46 and identification Ross-USA. Is it possible to update it directly via "VAGCOM_EEWrite.exe" ? Or i need to use USBASP?

    Thanks.

Try and see if it is working or not, ....because it depends from were you have it and what is inside of Atmega...

I can use the molex from my pc or canbus connection in car with ignition ON to give power at the vag cable while flashing it? I don't have an external power supply unluckily.. I bought it on aliexpress, it has a ATMEGA162 + 16V8 + FT232RQ chip inside. If the flash via usb fails i have to do it again using USBASP? Sorry for the questions but i'm a newbie and i'm trying to learn.

You can power up via obd2, if will not work to flash by usb...dump inside Atmega will be the same and if it is working now will still work after that. Reflash Ft232RL only after reflashing Atmega.

Hey guys, what an amazing thread!
I want to buy a better cable to mod and use with the loader.
    But I'm a little lost...
Which one do I need to buy from Aliexpress/ebay to mod and use with the loader?

    Thanks!!

Tried today to update using "VAGCOM EEWRITELANG" and i got the error "not in bootloader mode". So I assume that i have to flash it manually using USBASP with Progsip and MProg, right?

    Yes 100% correct.
You can also use avrdude to flash atmega162. http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/avrdude/
Batch/CMD files are in loader zip file.

Almost a week ago I have bought a clone, seller delivered a CD with official 17.1.2, on description said that official software will work. At least that i could read on that CD, it was a bit damaged. After autoscan license gone, Unregistered appeared. No internet, no update, just software from CD. I have contacted seller, no answer until now.
Meanwhile, I have found some software, recovery.exe, and worked but when I am scanning I get some communication errors.
Can I make it to work as it should?

I know that I had very few chances to do something about this but maybe now there is a solution... or going to trash?
