    In this case, at some point (minutes, hours etc of use) Atmega will be fully filled up with info and will not be able to process the tasks we give?

    I did not notice this behaviour with 18.2....

    This behaviour has been there for ages I think.

    There are several bytes devoted for the counter.
    ATmega's EEPROM specified limit is approx 100'000 erase/write cycles before it gets exhausted. I believe this applies to every byte, not entire/total count.
    Assuming it's one byte only, then shouldn't be a problem, unless you are connecting/disconnecting the cable 1000s of times per day.
    I can calculate ABS module codings for:
    * Continental/Teves MK60EC1 and MK60;
    * TRW systems in Passat B6 / B7 / CC /Tiguan;
    * MK100
    ;
    * Bosch ABS8.2, ABS9.0 and ESP8.2, ESP9.0;
    * EBC 460 (UP!, Mii, Rapid, CitiGo, Fabia, Toledo, etc) New!
    *
    ... and other VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda modules.I can assist with repairing \/CDS interfaces.

    I'll try to explain. Tested multiple vcds versions 18.9 to 17.1.3 + different loader versions. 0x44 hardware. Even tested the same with flashed it to 0x46.

    When leaving Advanced measuring values opened for some time and checking some values (usually did first twelve for consistency), after X hours and Y minutes, vcds shows popup message with Communication error. This popup usually shows again 2 or 3 times after closing previous. Only option is to close it. After that opened ecu starts reconnecting (try 1, try 2, try 3) and then dies with No response from controller.

    X can be from 0 to 4 hours. Haven't tested longer. Y any number 0 to 59.

    Hid3 already knows all that.

    And after this, the cable is "broken" or still registered?

    Licence is valid. Time is lost while logging those values and have to start again.

    Can be a counter but can be a RT programming error? I'll try how long i can on a 15 or/and 19.

    Anyway, IF cable=with AES after max 30 min is hot.

    Can you measure how much current is draining your cable with AES just connected to +12V and GND and left idle (VCDS not running)?
    Connect a multimeter in-line to measure that.

    Thanks.

    Does Atmega EEPROM counter reset if reprogrammed?

    Yes, of course, but there is no way to restore the physical chip wear

    I just opened it up, checked four values and let it run.
    I hope it helps

    I've bought a VW8 airbag module and a gateway module which was taken out off a VW golf 5 and touran and connected the modules to the corresponding can-lines. The airbag module pinout is:
    Pin 1 - +12V
    Pin 26 - GND
    Pin 49 - CAN-High orange black
    Pin 50 - CAN-Low orange brown
    Optional: Pin 31 - +12V

    and the complete pinout of my gateway:

    Pin 1 Klemme 30, Sicherung F24 in EM-Box rot blau
    x Pin 2 Klemme 30, Sicherung F24 in EM-Box rot blau
    Pin 3 nicht belegt
    x Pin 4 K-Leitung (nicht belegt)
    Pin 5 Komfort-Datenbus, CAN-Low orange braun
    Pin 6 Antrieb-Datenbus, CAN-Low
    Pin 7 nicht belegt
    Pin 8 Kombiinstrument-Datenbus, CAN-Low
    x Pin 9 Diagnose-CAN, CAN-Low
    Pin 10 Infotainment-Datenbus, CAN-Low
    x Pin 11 Klemme 31 (Batterie-Minus) braun
    x Pin 12 Klemme 31 (Batterie-Minus) braun
    Pin 13 Wake-Up-Leitung Kombiinstrument blau gelb
    x Pin 14 Klemme 15 schwarz gelb
    Pin 15 Komfort-Datenbus, CAN-High orange grün
    Pin 16 Antrieb-Datenbus, CAN-High orange schwarz
    Pin 17 nicht belegt
    Pin 18 Kombiinstrument-Datenbus, CAN-High
    x Pin 19 Diagnose-CAN, CAN-High
    Pin 20 Infotainment-Datenbus, CAN-High
    It's german, I don't have enough time to translate it to english, I'm sorry.
    I've connected the airbag module to pin 6 can-low and 16 can-high to the gateway and connected a OBD2-port bought out of ebay to pin 9 can-low and pin 19 can-high.
    Here you can see how the can-network looks in a VW Golf 5: h**p://www.christiani.de/pdf/82205_probe.pdf

    I've coded the gateway module to just look for the airbag module and it works just fine.

    peetr,

    thanks a lot for your testing and the wiring diagram! These bits of information are really useful.

    Any chance you could repeat the very same test over upcomming night but just with English version of VCDS? (firmware/EEPROM of your cable doesn't need to be reflashed, it's compatible).

    Thank you!

    @hid3, this is how my setup looks like. It's pretty simple
    liviudiaconu has tested the english version of VCDS, but if you need more testing just let me know. I just need to find some time
