Check earth first. Run a new wire to sensor from battery neg for test. I suspect connection is pulling 5v ref down because of fault in wiring or ecm.
Hi,I’m hoping someone might be able to help as at witts end .
I have an Insignia 1.8 A18xer engine code 2009 that won’t run unless the map sensor is disconnected.
When map sensor connected diagnostic using vauxcom ang maxidas shows no faults.
The engine will start and cut out after a couple of seconds on every attempt to start.
If I disconnect map sensor it will start after 5 attempts and idle perfectly all day.
The engine will rev up if throttled gradually.
When engine is running if I connect sensor the engine cuts out.
The map sensor has been renewed.
After many days trying to find fault ,I know why it cuts out but am unable to find the reason behind it.
It appears that when I connect the map sensor it shuts off the injectors.
I found this out by spraying brake cleaner/ easy start into air intake and it revs and runs continually whilst continuing to spray into air intake...
If anyone has any advise or ideas where to look it would be greatly appreciated as I’m at the point of giving up.
thanks

correct. Then test other sensor for 5v ref
What is live data showing for MAP / Airflow / Temp etc @ ignition on?
V Series TMS470 / EEPROM data - encryption / decryption, totally pwned.

Hi ,I am unable to get live reading but have made some discoveries, not sure wether of any significance ..
When starting the engine runs for a couple of seconds before stalling. It will continue to do this no matter how many attempt you make.
After days of trying to get to bottom of problem I noticed if I disconnected map sensor it would start and idle perfectly all day.If I connect map with engine running it will stall immediately. If I disconnect again it will start...
If I connect map and disconnect intake cam soleniod it will start and run perfectly and can be driven.
if I connect solenoid when running engine stalls and will not start until disconnected again.
If I connect solenoid and disconnect intake cam sensor it will start and run perfectly and can be driven.
If I reconnect sensor when running engine it continues to run
and will do until I switch off but will not start and run after this unless I disconnect one of the above sensors.
When all connected there are no fault codes recorded.
when running the engine sounds sweet as a nut.
I have spent many hours just to get to this point .
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Hope this reads ok
thanks
OFF TOPIC:-
we had a car at www.meat-head-motors.co.uk and we did everting we could to make it run
we gave up, never got paid, next garage listened to what we said
put scope on map sensor, found exhaust "blocked solid"
so post more in dK, use thanks button as mush as possable, gas axe exhaust off

I just wondered what data was @ ign on but engine not running. Sounds like symptoms of a 1.3 diesel with egr jammed wide open.
