Hi, if you're talking about them in the lawn, I use "sulphur lawn chips". I get them from a company called "Greenacres" I think, just aereate the lawn & spread them about. The deeper you go the longer they last, does not kill them just makes them bugger off somewhere else they do not like acid soil. Good luck, Iv'e been trying for years this is the best I've found.
Slightly off topic, a beekeeper told me once that in order to get rid of affits (probably not correct spelling iShit failure) a wasp like pest to the Salley tree, that I should use jeyes fluid.
In no time at all the pests were gone and some months later the tree gave up the ghost and died (probably in sympathy with the pests)
Oddly enough, I never had any more trouble with either.

aphids ya mean sap suckers, depends how strong the mix is as jeyes fluid was more for disenfecting say soil in greenhouse and any eggs hidden in the nooks and crevices or in getting soil steralised .jeyes fluid normally used on fruit trees while dormant/winter time.possibly damage blossom and visiting insects=it stinks.
