Try it on a normal PC.
Laptops never seem to have 9 pin serial connections.
When i had the same problem with the USB to serial DB9 adaptor i just used another pc with the 9 pin serial connector and it connected straight away.
Sorry to post a message again, I previously did it on someone elses post.
Got a USB to 9 pin adapter from flebay, which I have installed with the correct drivers and I can see it in decive manager under Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port. I managed to change it to Com Port 1 and the other communications port is 2.
When I try to connect to my eurovox ex5000 I click on download, select the com port 1 but the pc and the box just do not want to talk to each other.
I have only installed the driver for the USB to 9 pin adapter. Do I need to install software.
Thanks guys.

I have tried both my desktop and laptop but no joy!
You have to use a null modem cable in conjunction with the USB adapter. Are you using one?
Yes I have a null modem Cable and can sucessfully connect to my Eurovox when I connect directly to my desktop
Slightly confused ? Can you connect to your desktop now?
I can connect to my desktop when I do not use the USB to 9 pin connecter via my serial port, so I am connecting with just the null modem Cable.
I want to be able to use the USB connector so I can use my latop which does not have a 9 pin port so I can update my brothers box when I go to his house.
I see. Are you using the correct driver for your OS?
I am assuming that if I can see it in Device manager without a yellow exclamation mark that I have the correct one.
Will try the other drivers and let you know how I get on.
Thank for you avice so far.
Sounds like the correct driver, but according to your first post:
You need to have the USB adapter set to any unused port between 1 and 4 for the UFL to be recognised by your serial port. You say you have changed two port settings?I managed to change it to Com Port 1 and the other communications port is 2.
I changed the port setting so that Port 1 would be the usb one for simplicity and the other port 2 which was port 1
Just thought that when the computer looks for the connection it will look at port 1 first.
OK even more confused now The UFL will search between ports 1 and 4 as said. Once you have the adapter set to one of these ports in device manager the box will see it.
