Surprise heatwave is on the way out and 'utterly uninspiring' weather is on the way - as 31 million people set to hit the roads

The Easter weekend could bring SNOW showers in the North and gridlock on the roads as millions plan to drive to see relatives over the long weekend.

The bleak forecast comes after Britain basked in sunshine last weekend with temperatures hitting highs of 25.4C on Sunday.

A 1,000-mile wide Icelandic air plume is forecast to bring cold showers to the north and some parts could even see the white stuff.

Winds will start to pick up on Friday as low pressure sweeps in from the Atlantic, forecasters warn.

Snow is forecast in Scotland on Sunday and Monday and will threaten Northern England.
