Well, the reason suppliers need your post code is because the price of energy varies across the UK and suppliers will quote differently depending on where you live. I couldn’t find the cheapest quote without the use of comparison sites but as always, I don’t provide all my personal information to them when just requesting a quote. on their website.
I don’t pay any attention to TCRs, Tariff Comparison Rates are determined by what Ofgem considers average energy use and even these amounts have been known to change from year to year. It’s easier to compare when you know your average energy consumption and do the calculation yourself plugging in the tariff values.
I’ve found Our Power Ltd to be the cheapest for me on their Fixed October 2018 deal which is no longer available now. I’m sure they were only supplying energy to Scotland then but I think they’ve extended this to most of the UK now.
When I changed over from Scottish Power last year due to end of Scottish Power’s fixed contract, Our Power were quoting me £200 less than Scottish Power’s cheapest deal at the time they were going to offer me to stay.

nara give me 1 good reason why they need this information when criminals are not refused using the same method, the reason they ask this info to determine how much gas you use, for instant if you are a family of 6 the tariffs be less because the amount of gas used is high, if you are an old man single you hardly use gas the tariffs will be high so they are almost targeting the poorest and the vulnerable people, if that wasn't the issue then why not stick with 0ne tariffs for all after all the gas is coming from russia...
