EDC15vm+ ECU Bricks when write?

Hello, i gonna help a dude with his car. They tryed genuine kess and tryed to tune the car.
They think the car is factory tuned from fabric, but thats my question, can it be protection in any way?, Reading was fine. They send in file, got back tryed to write and it failed.
He said they needed also to use vag tools on vw retailer to unlock before write back ori, but his not sure ( he jobs there ).

My plan was to take full backup in boot before even trying to help him.
also my plan was to tune it with bootmode and not obd that they have tryed already.

It looks like they used a slave kess. ( i have seen picture )

But the first that come to me was " Corrupted readout?, Or bad file from tuner? ", i had a polo before, that one all 3 that readed the file out got a corrupt file, it crashed all from 15% to 95% when it was tuned, ori file was going back in and car started.
But as soon we got file from someone else the car started ut right away and got tuned after testing file, no problem at all after getting that file, now it can be tune as much he wants.
Can it be the same case for this one?, Its a old and bullet proof ecu... never heard of protection on this old ecu :)

Hello. I did many of theses ecu! I think, boot mode will go anytime, if not corrupted eeprom. I writed with mpps on bench, there were some error and boot mode allways works for me!
