just done a scan on 28.2e and ended up with 10 channels found , 1 transponder searched. is this correct?
my settings are as follows:
freq:11597V
fec:auto
symbol rate:22000
did get some settings from google which read:
freq:11681V
fec:2/3
symbol rate:27500
but when i change these settings i loose the snr and agc strengths?

Sounds like you are scanning 1 transponder and not the full network or you are not on 28.2e. Why not download an up to date channel list via the server (blue button on remote) and see what quality/signal/ber reading you get when you go through the channels.

if you can get 42East 1West and 30West all ok you should get all the other strong sats in between unless there is something in the way.what sats are you getting?if your pole is not 100% plumb you might track part of the arc and no more.and setting up the motor with the wrong lat and the stb with the wrong long/lat will also put it out.

Yes m8, back to dish setup by the sound of it.
Best to say what sats you can pick up.
SatBeams - Satellite Coverage Maps - Sat Footprint Intelsat 10-02 (Intelsat 1002, Intelsat Alpha-2, Intelsat X-02) / Thor 3 / Thor 5 (Thor 2R) / Thor 6 (http://www.satbeams.com/footprints)

ps: the last favourite blue pannel channel list for me was cajton@sats 45e - 30w date 06-02-2010. A little out of date "hint".
Or load a new satellites.xml for what you need.

I"ve just noticed this post mate,if you have gone back to the sat config menu after scanning its all to easy to to remove services by mistake.have you tried a factory re-set then if using usals enter "many sats via diseqc rotor" and go straight to save (do not select any other options) then continue setup .I use line(5) automatic satellite search in the satellite & TP edit menu for sat scanning as you can check that you have what you want after each scan.

thanks guy's, just got back and checked. i do get a picture of sorts on 28.2e but it's pixilating. no pic on 7e but sound. 1w seems fine. i think it's got to be the dish again. it's weird tho because when i go into the motor setup i can get 28.2 from the sat list but there are no transponders listed.

if you go into the satellite installation & TP edit menu then (4) transponder edit you will get a list of sats on the left and if you scoll down/up and highlight any sat you get a list of transponders in the data base on the right, for 28.2 East I think you should have over 70 if not do a factory reset and see if they come back.

Hi m8,
sounds exactly the same as my first attempt, which technically speaking, I threw up in half an hour. At the time I was only interested in 1w and 30w for the wife, and it worked perfect untill I went past 19.2e.
After confirming the pole mount was plumb, it was down to dish & motor angles. In my case I only had to lift the dish a few degrees and drop the motor angle a little.

hi again, just had another go at picking up 28.2e. dismantled dish, motoer and bracket. refitted...nothing. did the same a second time but this time moved it to a different spot and was really carefull when setting everything back up. made sure everything was plumb. still nothing.
question: if i manually move the dish to pick up 28.2e do you thnk i still would be able to get 1w etc?
cheers from a very peed off newbie

The most accurate way is to point dish at due south. Drive dish to 1w and tune into BBC World news. Get strongest signal. If dish is plumb you should get all the arc.

You really need to set your dish-motor up to sat due south first, even if you cant see the sat. Otherwise your going to have same problem again.
I'm in west london and don't mind helping you, let me know if your local.
But back to dish setup I'm afraid.
The problem you'll have is that 28 is very strong and you can allmost pick it up with a wet finger.
Once you are setup on thor its only a matter of checking the sats either side for adjustment. I saw a method on another forum for how to do it this way, I ll have a look and see if I can find it.
By the way how easy is the access to your dish?
