hi guys ihave a problem with my 2006 535d 272hp Edc16c35
today i have try, with the string 3.0d EDC16c35 , and read ok but when write it erase and give an error.
ripristinate in bdm and do the same with the string 3.0d EDC16c31...the same problem, erasing of flash and error.
the problem seems of protocol..my mpps read ok the car but in writing erase the flash and doesn't write.

the last string is 3.5d EDC16c35...what is? 535d and 335d are always 3000cc, not 3500cc.
it should be reserved for 335d and 535d motor?
reply of today: tried with 3.5d EDC16c35 protocol, but do the same.
i don't know why...mpps has resolved the problem in the newer v12 version?

for this ecu,you must have 14V on battery to work properly and if you have bad clone..bad journey..

i have tried with 13,8v but don't work
the voltage is not True..because who use the mpps with bmw write and read @ 12,5v ;)

I think,it due to updates from BMW after 2008,ure unable acces ecu

I updated throughout all versions to v5, applied patch, when i run firmware updated..it cant find my device..
this is an alloy box, the first that was sold, MCU C8051F340, i used it with v1 and serial 41313833, if i go back to v1 it works again...but i just wanted to update it.

so as I told you also on PM the steps to update your tool are.

1. instal MPPS_3.0.2.xx
2. run the software with interface plug into USB - you will see the first update bar - for this version you will be ask about "activation code" - push cancel

3. now install the MPPS_4.0.x.x
4. run the software with interface plug into USB - yopu will see now the second update - this time the sw will work but your tool willbe recognized as CLONE - don't worry about it.

5. install the MPPS_5.0.1.10
6. run the update - now your tool will be updated to v6 fw. but your tool will be recognized as Clone too.
7. run the patch - now you solved the issue related to CLONE

8. be happy

it is up to you - it means it depends what would you need to do further with that map.

I would say partial would fit best for some tasks and full (if it is available) for other tasks.

no risk with partial read - in case of issue you can use very easy with maximum success recovery mode.

buying tools from china is like playing to lottery - you might have the chance to receive an working tool on both protocols (KWP=K_line, and CAN)

but also here you need to be careful when you will do "write" procedure - sometime this tools are stooping the job before finalizing it.

you will have some option to "recover" the ECU - I would suggest you to have with you also BDM tool to be into the safety side.

Full read is needet if you wanna modify the code from the ecu,maybee to implement No Lift Shift and antilag into free code space...but i dont think here are 500 members able of it..

So far its better read only data...you wont touch code space ;)

Recovery works fine with mpps partial read on edc15...on ME7 didnt test it.

Older trucks Ecu's u can open and unsolder flash eprom,read/write with external paralell programmer.

(If you dont have aknowledge and tools for doing this,i suggest dont touch any ECU with any Serial flasher,as repair will be very expensive)

For newer trucks,may ask Flli Galetto,they support trucks as i know.

V12 is stable,but it s used only for reading flash of ecu (engine controller) not used for immo of if not done by flash but in eprom,cant read pin,e2p etc..it s built for tuning ...

I think you need BDM read,to bdm write....bdm read will be full read...

now - if you will see next time on CAN protocol the same error then you have think about hardware debug!

there are few components which are responsible for this kind of error.

in your case could be the fact that is EDC 17 - I did not checked personally this issue - but you have to do it.

Check simple OBD II 16 pin plug,it s same for all,google will find pins ;)

C4 Picasso don't have K-Line in OBD2 you have to attach the K-Line directly from ECU.

In germany some tuners like it but prefer work with Byteshooter or bdm.
Powergate also is a good solution.

You are right about price mishu_b but alientech make update for things.

A chinese clone be able to work very good if you take time to look at compenent and flash it with proper Hex or bin file.

after V5 the V12 it is more reliable and STABLE.

upgrades for V12 are really good, add new cars fix problems for some others and so on, plus working under Win 7.

I know Win 7 is not for automotive, but some guys are really looking to work under this OS.

if that fails,if you are using a laptop with all chiptuning data on it.try and DEFRAG THE HARDDRIVE.

with that device you can do ISP flash (In System Program) it means no deslodering - just find out the connections which you need to program the uC.

C2DAT, C2Ck and of course GND for reference.

for supply you have two ways.
1. supply from your programable device
2. supply the uC from a different source. I would suggest you to supply the tool via USB - it means to plug the tool into USB port of your PC, in this way you are sure that the uC is correct supplied.

As sw you have to use the sw of the device or ask the seller if this device support SiliconLabs sotware.

But If you din not bought yet the device I would suggest you to buy this one: SILICON LABORATORIES|DEBUGADPTR1-USB|ADAPTOR, USB, DEBUG, FOR C8051FXX | Farnell United Kingdom (http://uk.farnell.com/silicon-laboratories/debugadptr1-usb/adaptor-usb-debug-for-c8051fxx/dp/1186943)

with this tool you will be able to program any 8051 SiliconLabs products using original sw.

I would say it is good for starting.

Procedure to reflash your uC into MPPS
1. identify the pins C2DAT, C2CK and GND
2. connect the programer to those pins
3. connect MPPS tool to USB port - for supply reason
4. run sw for programing/debugging according to your "programmer"
5. load wished dump into sw describe above
6. program your uC
7. use the MPPS tool with new dump flashed above.

These are big steps, you will find the small ones by yourself (e.g double click to open the sw, connect the GNDs lines for reference etc).

EDC15M, you can write only, not read. But you can ID ECU and you have a big chance to find original here so no need to open ECU and desolder 29F200.

I hope it is not so late for answer.
So,

With china clones it is like playing to lottery - you could get one tool 100% functional but - but to many chanses to get a bad tool - then you will spend other Euro to fix it. In the end you might spent more money then buying one good tool from the beginning.

It is up to you what would you like to do with your money! - I have seen to many china clones working wrong from the first run.

If you desolder for program new MCU, yes.
But for mpps no need to desolder anything...just find correct pins for silab usb debugger.(Or other programmer)

That depend of cloned mpps you have...
Alu clone or "all in one" clone.
Read all the post here and the tread "mpps repair" for more informations.
But don't forget the principal thing :

Have proper and fonctional dump hex file.

I have a feeling that my posts and PMs are invisible to others, but for those able to see it here is an image.

Warning: My Silabs Debug software does not connect anymore after erasing the flash. Erasing worked well though :-)

Each interface are differents, yours seems to be alu box clone.
For all in one euro clone it is a little bit different.(for connection)
But it is just an affair of searching a little. :)

I have a clone I have adaptedand is working with full V12. A change is needed to the controller and hardware must be flashed with a correction to the clock timer to remove counter.

Can point you in the right direction for controller or full kit. This is not patched and the driver is not manipulated. If you need ust the controller you will need to have the means to remove and resplder new. Ideally IRDA station.

Software MPPS Version 12.0.0.6
HW Firmware 12.01
WIN7 64/32 bit and XP32

I mistakenly allowed my MPPS software to upgrade the firmware in my clone cable and now the MPPS messages that the cable is a clone and will not read out or program files anymore.

Does anyone have the ability to program the clone cables back to the original firmware?

Just installed it but when I run mpps.exe, it pop a window asking me firmware update 12.01. I don't want to connect my interface, because I don't want to brick it.. it's a v12 clone from EU..

you are one of the very first ones which says that about recovery with MPPS tool.

I had done many recovery with MPPS (not alu box) 100% succeeded.

have you tested it on EDC16CP35? do you use regular battery charger? is it maybe better to connect it to other running car by cables?

I think your interface is dead Maglaras, kill by update V12 because for sure you have serial blacklisted.

New pcb,is old pcb...SJA and Mcu changed...thats it..

Drivers from mpps are changed,so the V15 wont recognise and install an V12...and so it wont update...

FW update must be done by MCU flashing...but where the hell find it....

Yes all are EDC16C39... but MPPS does not write a checksum on some ECUs... you get an error after writing on the screen and car will not start.

You can write back ORI and car will start.

I can tell you from my experience that MPPS does not write:

Alfa GT Q2: SW 1037386727
159 1.9 JTD 8V: SW 1037379691

Both tried with v5. I dont know if the problem was fixed in v12.
