Any known issues with MPPS clone (SW 3.0.2.27) and Alfa/Fiat EDC16C39 ECU? I know that EDC16C8 is working flawlessly but I would like to do one with C39.

with v2.8 work but you must change data in Your system.

don't upgrade to the v3.0 because You can't downgrade firmware to old version

Wrong! Try to flash that dump and you will see how it doesn't work :D

If you will have the bootloader you will have all the dump because when you will start the program, if it see the bootloader , it start to update the flash, and voilla, you will have all the dump. You are clever.

1. start - new file - sise 64kb
2. place bootloader
3 find start address flash and place it.
4. find start adderss serial number and place key and ID
Vualay - flash is done!
programming MCU c80512f340 - and you have Interface = MPPS.

Hi i use MPPS original and work closely with John from CTW he told me today that they killed most of the clones with a software update by overclocking the CPU the clones are different than the ori also next software update original tools need a firmware update to work so they are constantly going to be updating to turn of clones

as i can see in comments there is no need for boot mode to read out this ecu, i am interested if it really reads without boot mode and does it only read data area or the whole contents of flash?

That makes it easy to find the right thing to patch on SW.

Now we got to look for what triggers that text to show up "Unit is a clone" and then do a JMP and it won't detect it a s a clone anymore.

Volkswagen Golf (or any other VAG) lists 1.9 TDI EDC16U1 and 1.9 TDI EDC16U34. But then there is 2.0 TDI EDC16C31.

I'm almost sure that 1.9 TDI should be either U1 or U31, and not U34.

I played with Golf 2007 1.9 TDI 90HP, I read the ECU using all three options. It read the ECU without any problems no matter which ECU I selected. And the file was always 2MB in size, data inside were also OK and the same in all three files.

Since it is a 2MB file I guess it cant be EDC16U1 right?

For writing I chose 1.9 TDI EDC16U34 and it wrote the file OK. But it stopped at the 49% with "Checksum not calculated" and then followed by "turn off the key". After that car started OK, I read the ECU again and modified file was written OK. So whats the deal here?

mpps switch automatic to right ECU Type. So if you have U31/4 and you will read it with U1 ... mpps software switch to U31/4 and read 2MB.
But the 2MB file is only a 512KB read ... all other is FF .. not same as CMD !!
But also CMD 2MB files work with mpps. So you can flash cmd files with mpps.
But i am not sure if you can to mpps files write with cmd (because at the beginnig of the File only FF FF ... ) ???

MPPS on ME7 only rewrites the sections/blocks which have a different checksum. Just like nefmoto.

I had same problem in golf plus 1.9tdi edc16 90hp. Same s..t always stops at 49% with checksum error even if I correct checksum before. This is with GENUINE MPPS not clone. Guess what ... 19$ galletto clone did the job flawlessly.

No, car doesn't start after that ... but I can write back the original always with no problem. When original reaches 50% says "flash complete" and process is closed, car starts. I think it's not a problem with the flashing but with the check-sum calculation. It would be nice if you can turn OFF check-sum calculation while writing.

bazare: It looks like MPPS has problems with EDC16C/U3x...

It works fine on "older EDC16" like VAG EDC16U1, or Fiat EDC16C8... I have written many of that ECUs, and never an issue.

Yesterday I had a funny moment with EDC16U31 when it stopped at 49% but the car started fine and ECU was written OK.
Today I tried to write EDC16C39 in Alfa GT Q2, and it came to 99% and the MPPS told me that there was an error and it would like to send error report back to AMT. The car didnt start after that (immobilizer, ASR, VDC, and all kinds of problems flashing on the board computer), but I was able to write back the original file without any problems and car was OK after that.

The checksum was calculated before writing the file, so I guess this must be a software issue.

I wonder if that issue is fixed in later versions of software.

I can assure you that original MPPS and some good clones, can flash EDC16U31 without any problem. But, yes, sometimes can go wrong and stop at some percentage. A lot issues can be connected with such behavior. Cold solder joint in device, damaged OS, damaged installation of MPPS, damaged ECU etc...

Also, some Gremlins can be reason why something doesn't work.

P.S. "Damaged OS"! For some unknown reason, MPPS is very sensitive on minor malfunctions in operating system. On one system, drivers are installed correctly, MPPS is running, but some strange errors occurs every time. Install it on one other PC, everything goes with flying colors.

Igor I'm talking about original tool, and I'm talking about that specific ECU edc16u31 in golf plus 90hp. I flashed other edc16u31 since then without problems. And back then I have tried many many times with different laptops, in different days.

I really doubt that this could be related to a OS or computer problem. If that was the case, then errors would occur at all ECUs and not only at one "specific" family (EDC16 with 2MB flash size), or it would be some random failure stuff. But this is not the case here, as you can consistently repeat this error.

I'm almost sure that there must be some software bug in the checksum correction. There is no other reason why would it fail while writing the modified file, and right after that it successfully writes back the orignal.

I guess that MPPS checks the checksum at the end of write, and if the checksum is not correct, then it tries to write it, but fails. Then when you write back the original file, the old checksum is still there, and it does not need to fix it, and car works again.

That is my explanation.

Too bad I can't use "newer" software version, because it is a clone obviously.
But it could also be the "clone" problem. Although again, why only at one ECU family... strange...

Would really like to know if original tool can to EDC16C39 without any issues...

Worst thing...the thruth is up till now its the most sold clone in chiptuning over the world...its like mpps ....there are good clones...and bad clones...i used some year clone galetto and had never problems with...which i cant tell about cmd can clone...

Thats the cloned world..u never know what u get...

Best Value for PRO Tuners is always an original Tool with large covering in brand and units..and as second choice why not a clone?

I dont think 3.0.2.37 will do this ecu,but u can try id and read ecu.

I read succesfull edc17cp14 with mpps but 5.x sw and ori mpps.

But i think actually t cant write because of the rsa signature.

Today i try to read BMW E61 530d with 3.0.2.37 and 3.0.2.31 with no success. ECU ID read no problem but when i read ECU MPPS gives me empty file after a few seconds.

Yesterday i try to read E46 320d 150 Hp with 3.0.2.37 no success (empty file).
But with 3.0.2.31 read no problem.

Of course not i don't have genuine mpps and i don't want it for the moment because I would be very tense if an interface i paid as expensive do not recode every vehicle available in the compatible list.
In this case as it is not in the list.
Well.I mean is that I prefer to test this interface as a "clone" rather than buying and spending too much in an interface that is not reliable.
Everybody can not afford to pay what this type of material.
I buy can be a day when many bugs have disappeared, but for now i do not see much new compared to other types of tuning tools.

In the mpps directory there is a check folder.i have install on an other laptop with out avg security and with out it there are more 2 drv file in the check folder.i think that 2 drv file for the bmw edc16 need to work,i will try.

i got in the drives folder 71 drv file in the check folder 54 drv file,but before was missing 2 file in the check folder with active avg.I off the avg and reinstall mpps now got the 2 missing file.i have not test yet.I have win7 on my laptop.mpps work right with win7?
Avg make a scan and cancel in the check folder the 013 and 037 drv file...

Any way,i would suggest to never run virus scanners son pc or laptop used to read write ecu files,and edid ecu files.

An pc used for this reason should never been connectet to internet,only for dll updates or windows updates.

Completely agree, I also see people using vista and 7, flashing requires a stable environment and imho barebones xp with no av is the only time you should mention 'microsoft' and 'stable' in the same sentence.

74HC32D allready replaced,but there is no LM339 on it,but some other IC with 16 pin,LM339 have only 14?

I need know U5 and U4 what they are.

U4 could be LM393 or LM2903, they are same. U5 ?! MAX232? :D

Must be a problem with this car, tried with galletto also! Does the coolant temp need to be up above **? Seems to go into eco mode even with 13.5v charge when read is tried.
