for 93 series there is rule about 8 or 16 byte..look in datasheat for this type..it depends of cenection of one pin..not sure wich one check in data..

regards!

P.S. If chip is 16 byte and you read it as 8 then you need to swap this content before you wrote it back..

Thanks guys so much for help, just one more question:

The CAT93C46/56/66 are 1K/2K/4K-bit Serial E2PROM
memory devices which are configured as either registers
of 16 bits (ORG pin at VCC) or 8 bits (ORG pin at
GND).

Note: When the ORG pin is connected to VCC, the X16 organization
is selected. When it is connected to ground, the X8 pin is
selected. If the ORG pin is left unconnected, then an internal
pullup device will select the X16 organization.

In my case pin 6 (org) is not in use,so shall i write it as 16 bit ?
And what about the bin file, can anyone help what to do please.

Ok guys, thanks again for your help, but what happened is this:
after loading the file to the eeprom i started the car 2 times and it worked perfectly...
One hour later the guy who i was fixing it for rang me that the engine is not starting again,so i read the eeprom again and saw a lot of differences... here is the bin attached...
Pin 13 in the ECU was disconnected,i mean i didn't forget it.
What could cause this happening again,is there something else that i should do?
Please help.

did you cut thr immo line before you put the ecu back on the car?

Meat-Head

One of them Oh jobs. Sure it's pin 13 (unlucky for owning a Met-rot)

Suggest you compare files in this thread with yours, despite the fact it was the same adam28 who supplied the imm-off.bin!

Perhaps you could look up 'wright protect' for this chip, how odd.

To be quite honest i am a newbie at IMMO things... so would you please explane what do you mean by "IMMO line" ,if you meant pin 13 on the ECU,yes it was disconnected (cut off).
Is there something else that i miss?
Please help.

Yes mate, the im*o line is the wire that goes to the pin of the ECU plug whichever pin is the im*o line cut the wire that goes to that one.
The im*o line must be cut before you plug the ecu back in to the car
Also take alook here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f68/rover-1998-a-80523/

On the forum there is im*o tool 2007 and Otocheck. Download these they can help you.

Yes mate, pin 13 was the first thing i've done as you can see on the picture...
I've checked with Autodata, the pinout of the ECU and is definitely pin 13 !

I didn't have a look at the IMMO box as i thought once is cut off... but maybe have to disconnect it at all.
Also i've got a PM from other forum:

Hi
Try this, I do it for 214i with similar ECU and works.

In 93c46 in address 000A to 0013 put 00, in 0014 to 0017 put FF, turn ign on once and turn off, then you can try start engine.
Before that you must short pin 2 and 23 in grey plug in immo unit (below steering column) for starter signal.

By using the bin again that you have edited, going to disconnect the IMMO box and will short the pins for the starter...
Then will report.

No luck guys, pin 13 in the ECU is off,the immo box took it off and the same story...
When i start it a few times is ok,leave it for a minute and does not start at all...
Something is changing the data in the eeprom.
By the way the starter is ok even without shorting 2 and 23 on the immo connector.
Any idea ???

That's weird as hell.

a) Change the eeprom for another
b) Try another dump
c) Earth pin 13?
d) can you put a password (put in on bit of paper inside ecu) on the chip
and/or "Wright protect" the chip, how odd.

Not yet guys,I went to the next town where the car is,just to start it and told the guy to bring it to my place, but on the way the car broke down... so i told him to find the way to bring it to,but he hasn't called me since... When the car comes will let you know guys...
Thanks

if it broke down it may have another problem not related to immo.
