2005 VW Polo power steering pump

Customer has brought one of these to me today. Fault is described as power steering would intermittently stop working, now has stopped working altogether. Fault light on in the car.

I'm hoping to be able to visit the customer next week and do a scan the car with the faulty pump fitted to the car, but has anyone seen this type of fault before? Is there an interface I can use to interrogate the unit on the bench without the car being present?

Hi,

I think the first thing to do is check the Alternator Charging System, if its over charging or under charging it will shut down the Power Steering System.

And there are 2 fuses for that system one in Fascia 1 (F7 5a) and other in Engine Bay (F3 50a). as per AD.
