Hi,

I've done a flash OBD read on a Marelli MJ9DF ECU (Fiat Ducato 2.3) with foxFlash.

Unfortunately a full read (flash + eeprom) is not possible without opening the ecu with this tool. (ECU is security locked on bench mode).

I was wondering if it is possible to do an EGR off (proper EGR off, not only DTC removal) with only the flash file read/write via OBD, or is a full read necessary?

Here is the original flash read of that ECU:

Can anyone guide me on this?

Hi,

commercial vehicle owners are so poor they can't fix EGR valve?

Hi,

commercial vehicle owners are so poor they can't fix EGR valve?

Repairing or Replacing EGR is not the issue.

Problem with this Euro 6 engine with HP EGR and LP EGR is that it's not possible that easy to repair.
I've already spent 10.000€ each in 4 vehicle to get rid of the P0401.
Therefore a van has to run at least 1 year to cover that.

Read here: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/ducato-p0401-p0402-p0236-p0238-and-limp-mode-its-2017-euro-6-egr-changed-what-do-i-check-next.491167/

DTC P0401 (HP EGR flow insufficient) is shown when you read the ODB.
First of all EGR had been cleaned and replaced 2 times.
Without any change.

End of story after 6 month of diagnose and test run was to replace both EGR (HP and LP), replace LP-EGR cooler (sits on backside of engine, engine needs to be removed), replace DPF Filter, replace Turbocharger.
And while the engine is out. Also Timing belt and clutch.
Bill at Fiat Dealer in total 10k each.

What happenend here and why to replace all that parts?
It's a slow process what happens.
First of all the DPF gets insufficient and sometimes the inner ceramic brakes.
That's why unfiltered exhausted gas passes the DPF and gets into the LP-EGR.
LP-EGR gets blocked because it's very tiny stainer structure.
After LP-EGR is stuck and no air flow is getting through, the turbo charger controller tries to keep up the needed air pressure by spinning higher revs.
The turbocharger gets damaged and starts to eat engine oil.
The engine oil gets into the DPF and DPF gets blocked even more.
The back pressure into the Turbo starts to rise and the turbocharger gets damaged even more.
Meanhwile there is a lot carbon building up in both LP-EGR, HP-EGR and intake manifold.
When you find out what happened these all parts are already damaged and van gets into limp mode.
Only solution is to change all the parts.

And than the whole process starts again form zero and it's only a matter of time.

Even that is not the issue.

At the moment the biggest issue is there is no new DPF available in the market.
And because of the damage ist not possible to clean DPF.
Only solution is to clean everything.
DPF, Both EGR, Air intake system and then shut off the EGR System.
There is no other solution.

If anybody has got other solution I'm happy to know.
Already lost about 50k because of these not working Euro 6 LP-EGR Set up.

Now I've bought the foxflash ECU programmer and trying to resolve the issue by myself.
Without big luck until now.
Tried with davinci but wasn't good solution.

Will try the file and report.
