I just have a curiosity. If any one knows, please I will appreciate the help.

When a toyota car, let's say 2003-2006 model, has an im*obox, what is the im*o eeprom inside the engine ecu for then? Are they both supposed to have the same content? And finally, if the ecu is flashed as if it have no im*o box, then it is find out that the im*obox exist, could the im*obox just be flashed with a virgin file or both units must be fixed?

Thanks guys.

Hi Zilog357, I'm also looking into this at the moment.
On early Toyota stuff using a rav 4 for example (aca20/21 may 2000 to july 2003) the engine ecu also held the transponder information.
This changed on the aca22/23 model (july 2003 to nov 2005) where they got a separate immo box.
From what I understand you only have to flash the immo box.
Hard to find information on this so far. I found a page with a bit of information on this here...

You should also look into this thread on Otocheck

Which is the program used to flash the SOIC-8 chip in the immo unit. Apparently you can do this on-board without de-soldering it if you use an adaptor clip like this one...

That’s pretty much all I have found out so far and I’m not sure what I have told you is correct. If there is somebody with more information about this it would be great if you could help us out.

Fallen, thank you for your reply.

Let's see if someone can give us more information about it. I posted the coded file of the immo box on another thread to see if someone have a virgin file for it. I wish that the car starts with a virgin file even when the engine ecu eeprom was unrecoverably modified.

About the clip you posted, shown on e_bay, I use one like that one, but I use the blue one (Pomona brand), since that 3M brand clip (Black) wears out very quickly. The compression spring is too hard and smashes the polymer tip after several uses.

Thanks again.

Hello Rashid. Thanks for your share.

I wanted to ask if you have tested any of the files in this download?

I checked them and they are mostly the same set of files for each model.

There are also some that are not correct.

May be the data got corrupted?

Thanks again

Hello
As a piece of advice, before carrying out any tasks on an eeprom the first thing to do is to back-up the original data in, for later or use if the intended task i wrongly done (re - flashing for example)
Talking about Toyota eeprom, that found in the immobox is usually the serial one of family 93LC66 etc...and they store the key data meanwhile that in the ECU store the immobox synchro data.

Regards, Serge

Yes, what is synchro data that is stored in the ecu? Isn't it the same file as in the immo box? If not, what should be in the ecu eeprom?

Thank you
