Obdstar p50 vs cg70

Most people I have talked to recommended p50. Does it do what it says it does? Or it's not that reliable?

Can p50 be used after 18 months? Or you must pay for renewal to continue using it.

Can you save the file you read using p50? Or the read file is not accessible? Can you use your own file to write to the module?

These are the primary questions anybody will have before buying any tool. Even I am planning to buy and really want the answers for these questions. Can anybody please help out.

Stay away from obdstar while you can and buy whatever else

Hmmm bad experience from it?

CG 70 have had even more people calling me to stay away from it. However with the now locked chips for Toyota and Honda i wonder how long we can stay away from those.

Is it possible to access the dump files read by obdstar p50? Or is it in a closed environment?

Obdstar p50 claims to read and clear h8sx chips for Honda. From my experience it doesn't work. Toyota ones works.

For honda h8sx ECU that doesn't use k line can be cleared

I try ask obdstar when subscription is end. They told me dont try update and unit will work. U can copy dumps from internal storage to usb stick or sd card. But dont know if all files.

Yes they said it will work after subscription ends. However a lot of the clear you need to connect to their server. So not too sure if we will get booted out of their server.


Is it possible to read eeprom from the airbag ECU and store the file? I have not been able to do that on vw module. Or on Honda ECU with eeprom.
Can it clear crash counter on vw module?

Yep stay away from obdstar p50. Some of their clear turn off the airbag lights but the airbag system do not work. Just disable it

Hello, I bought the CG70 to make one of the new Toyota Airbag control units with RH850 processor but it didn't work.
The control unit has the following number 89170-0H220 and is present in the software.
The software identifies it and reads the DTCs, but if you try to read the eeprom or reset the crash data give error on the bootloader.

I asked CG70 support to find a solution but they replied that it could not be found in a short time.

So I sent the CG70 back and bought the P50 because i had to reset this Airbag ECU asap.

The P50 is a little more complicated to initialize, activate and operate... but work grat on the same ECU at the first attemp!

However the CG70 has really well done software. it is very easy and intuitive to use and activate. Too bad it didn't work.
