Trying to decode this ecu, Frontera 2.0 1995, motronic. Took eprom of board and trying to take im*o off with

USB 24xxx I2C E-Eprom programmer - Microchip, ATMEL on eBay (end time 15-Mar-10 16:02:03 GMT) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160404209989&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT)

seems to read the file o.k, but when i try to write it says 'error writing to address 96'. I'm working on it being a 24c02c, but its the same if I select any 256 byte chip. Any ideas? thanks

Ok seem to have a simular problem with my late Donkey Kong programmer

Found that if you select read, no prob, read no go.

BUT if you closed the programme, re-opened it, then simply told it to write it worked.

Also try 'blanking' the eeprom, and re-read it see if it has remembered the fff's if it don't chuck it, new eeprom (thanks to PreimairD for that last tip)

Just to update on this. Programmed NEW 24c02 fine with above programmer. looks like the original chip had a bad sector. jobs a good'n......
