H264 DVDRip 5.1 SOUND

I have just put this film on my ps3 but the picture is great but there is no 5.1 sound and no sound atall comming though the amp!
can anyone help me with this?
the file is a mp4 and the sound file is ACC LC 190 Kps 6 channel 48khz

or how can i convert it to play in 5.1 on the ps3?

just make sure u aint selected that your amp supports AAC, in the sound settings on the PS3. If your amp supports Dolby and DTS then the PS3 will convert that 6 channels accordingly.

I may be wrong but I'm sure that the XMB is unable to output 5.1 surround sound. Only from games or disc will it work.

ive just got my amp wired up to the tv
then when i watch or play anything on the ps3 i just switch the amp on and put it in tv mode
then i get the surround sound
