I was trying. Add key to vw 01 beetle today and my 508 would not read the pin code.
Now for some reason my customer key doesn't work anymore.
Other locksmiths are telling me I may have scrambled data and am screwed, while euro lab told me that I should be fine if I can find a way to get the cs code without a working key.

I assume I need to pull the cluster now.
Have you ever ran into this ?
I'm stressed out now !
Thank you ..

Why did you not clone key than add a remote no more than 15 minutes work no risk to car depending now on ecu and cluster you have providing you have not corrupted dash or ecu lots of tools would have read pin from that vehicle wich i would not have done have you tried disconnecting battery and
Check again that the key
Is really deleted check with VCDS .

I tried cloning my key tool max was being weird saying "function not activated! Please go to self service or contact dealer to activate"
What are your suggestions to fix this ?
Should we pull cluster and try to eeprom the keys in ?

I have not tried disconnecting battery and trying their key again, will tomorrow before going any farther

Did you leave the customer key in the ignition to the on position for 1 hour with good battery maintainer?

Sometime key does not get recognised by immobilieser leaving in ignition for 30 to 60 minutes vehicle finds key again also apply to lock time on vag vehicles all this can be checked with VCDS this is a must tool for VAG vehicles provably the best tool with lifetime free updates buy Genuine and support Developer .

Ok as you had never heard of the reset procedures i assume you are new , assuming you havnt done anything else then a reset may help , so In simple terms , if you have entered pin code wrong a few times or if you have cycled ignition too many times with uncoded key or sometimes after low voltage battery then ecu will be locked , if the case that ecu is locked theres 2 simple fixes

1) SOFT RESET

insert programmed key into ignition and turn ignition on to position 2 , leave on for the lock time which could be 15 , 30 , 45 or 60 mins , some prefer to leave on for 60 mins to be sure , after the time switch off and remove key , reinsert original key and start car

2) HARD BATTERY RESET

fully disconnect battery , clamp + and - leads together for 10 mins to dissipate current in system , disconnect leads then correctly reconnect to battery and try to start car with original key.

i would suggest more research on the vehicles you work on and the tools your using , pays huge dividends.
many tools fail to extract the pin code on these old beetle , by far the best tool for doing these old beetle is the original vag tacho , nothing is better on these old MM clusters.

alot have had problems cloning even with older beetle systems , though with vag tacho original i have never ever had one fail and its one of only a few tools that turns off the airbag light on cluster which many see after key programming.
