how do I identify the image on my dreambox 500c.
when i look at the information screen it says software version unknown.
when i pullup the system menu it says enigma down on the bottom left of
the screen,is this the image id and if so how do i find out which version,
and where can i update.
I don't know if it matters but I am on virgin media (NTL) in Glasgow and my
box has just stopped working so i'm thinking the image needs updated.
feel free to tell me i'm wrong,im new here.

thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, how do I find out what image I am using, came with a pre-loaded one, when I click on info it just says unknown software, what does this mean?

There's a few ways you can find out what image you have.

1. Bootup and shutdown logos.
These give a good indication of what image is on the box. It usually has a logo of the site that it came from or the name of the image.

2. On remote, press MENU > INFORMATION > ABOUT
This might give you a clue as to what image you have.

3. Telnet message.
If you're box is connected to your PC or laptop, you can telnet to the box and a welcome message will be displayed in the telnet window. This sometimes gives a clue as to what image it is.

4. Filename of image
This is probably the best way, the actual file on your PC surely displays the name of the image. Obviously no use to you if you got your box from someone else.
