Hello lads,

Dont know if anyone knows how to do this, but do any of you know how to bench test an airbag module before you give back to the customer so you can confirm its cleared properly. Or is the more trouble than its worth?

Cheers guys

ufff.. its posible on some models with k line,
you have to find pinouts, +12v,gnd, K-line you can read it with diag.tool...
Problems are some CAN modules that can't be connected directly to diat tool, they are connect via Gateway, or via engine ecu or some other module

I have pps and launch x431. So if i connect +12v,gnd, K-line of my diag tool and +12v,gnd, K-line to airbag module it will work on some modules?
So i need to find out which pins are +12v,gnd, K-line on my X431 and PPS? Dont spose anyone knows which ones are on my diag tools?

Thanks for help much appreciated mate!

maybe im confused but im sure it applies when you do mileage correction,
also if you notice when using op-com it will multiplex and use different pins on different cars

what i meant was if youve got a diga/tacho uni, they will give you a cable for vw and a different one for BMW etc.
they must have different pins otherwise they wud jus giv 1 cable

So you will need this information.

you may be able to scan some module ,but will make fault for the airbag and pre tensioner , because it will be missing .

you may have to put a few low ohms resistor for all airbags and pretensioner .

If you know scaner's points and if you know airbag ecu you can check if crash data was cleared. But disconetced pretensione's and airbag sesors will be faults.

Hey mate,

Yes i did think of that.(fault for the airbag and pre tensioner),but all i need to know is if the actual airbag module main crash data is present or not.Basically letting me know if module is ready to use again or not

It not possible you need to put it in a car and read it. But there are one option, in vw cars ecu airbag connecting with can lines and when you take it out you can read it with k-line, eg: Polo, Golf 2004 years.

you can do it for toyota , pin 6 ,7 , and 13 connect direct to obd connector .

OOH just be careful doing shit like that.

Although it doesn't matter to a degree.

Some cars if you gave the towing eye a good twat with a twatting stick, when driver comes back, ignition on and POP.

Secondly (giggle) some dip-shit at Meat-City Mercedes shook an airbag module that was plugged in and poppa, poppa, poppa.

Risk of you shaking it and customer finding out, but then i must be talking crap as normal as there will be lots of faults stored on the bench if no bags, so in theroy it wont go off, but the peasant receving the module would need a scanner to clear you faults.

Just to add a little info to this i had one set up in work shop with 2.5 ohm resistor,s in replace of bag,s and pretensioner,s , was able to remove crash and fault codes so it was just plug and play but only older unit k-line not can as it need,s to be in network, hope this helps

Thanks kev
