Null Modem always needed or not??

:stupido3:Hi one and all, I have had my Dreambox 800HD delivered and have been looking into how to activate it. I see that I need a Null modem cable to connect to my PC but found that my laptop dosen't have the appropriate connections. Can I use any of the other connections at the rear of the box that would do the same job? Thank you in advance for helping me out.
