Hey folks, hoping for some information if anyone has encountered a similar scenario!

Last night I was called out to an Audi A5 that had locked the customer out. The keyfob was no longer unlocking the doors but still had the red LED indicator light coming on. The customer said they had been out with the keys in their pocket all day, so I suspect that something was pressing against the button for an extended period, causing it to unpair.

I changed the battery in the Key Fob just in case but that didn't make any difference.

The customer said that the door lock was "jammed" and had never turned with the emergency blade. When I inserted the key blade it felt like the lock was fine but the key just simply doesn't match it (it must have been re-keyed at some stage)

So I tried picking the door but could only feel a couple of wafers (4,5 and 8). The other positions felt empty and I couldn't probe the wafers in between the markings either.

So next I tried a lishi HU66 Reader tool but again it could only read positions 4,5 and 8 but no other wafer was found

Is it possible that the door was rekeyed with only a few wafers inside? I doubt if I cut a key with only positions 4,5 and 8 that it will open the door.

it was late last night so I didn't wanna glasswedge and pole the door because it would set the alarm off, but I will probably try and open it that way today when I go back out there.

Any thoughts on this one? Hoping not to spend my whole Sunday tinkering with it!

Thanks in advance and I hope everyone is having a great day!

Thank you for the reply! I had already sprayed WD40 into the lock, before I attempt to pick a lock I always spray WD40 in first and then push a blank key blade in and out a few times to "exercise" the wafers. Its probably not necessary on every lock but its a habit that I have always had.

In the end I got into the car using a reach tool and when I pulled the lock out of the door it was keyed differently to the emergency blade. So I replaced the emergency blade and paired the remote back up and the customer was happy
