UPA-USB and IAW 16F.EB !!!

Need to immo off a 1.1 Punto 1997 with Marelli IAW 16F.EB. Doing it 'in-circuit' with a MC68HC11F1 controller. Going to use UPA does anyone know if you need to power the ecu seperately too, or will the UPA be o.k on its own?

Anyone successfully used UPA on this control unit. Thanks

Don't need to use external power for ECU, but you will need to pull one leg of the hc11 RX or TX I can't remeber but for sure only one. The best way is tu cut the track leading to that leg.

First time on one of these MCU's so this may sound daft. Do you have to repair the track afterwards or can it be left. Is repairing it a case of sanding to bare metal and solder bridging. Thanks

Yes, you have to repair them. Sand until you see coper trace and soler it.
Don't use external power if you are using UPA. It will burn your processor.

You must connect ECU 16 F EB...12V+ positive connect to 26 and 35 pin,negative GND connect to 34 and 17 pin.Next,connect your upa to mcu hc11F1...Mod A,Mod B and Vss to GND,28 pin mcu to TxD your upa,29 pin to RxD your upa,17 pin to RsT upa and changed quartz 16 MHz to 4 MHz.Try,must be successful.

I followed the method of NOT powering the ecu. I think the post above is incorrect and applies to a different interface. Can someone please check these files before I reseal the unit.

It seemed to read/write o.k but could do with a check before pulling wires off. thanks


Is it just this chip that needs to be re-written, can the 27c512 be left alone.....

Just to update, all of the above files will work o.k. Its just a matter of placing somes FFFF's in address 00120. i used immo killer which allowed me to change just these whilst keeping my VIN i.d, any of the others will work too. UPA programmed the controller in circuit without any problems. Jobs a good'n.....Thnaks

why so many complication on old marelli..here on forum search for F1 files..there is small interface max232 and 4 kond. so you dont need to cut anything..yust conect to proc.on board of corse, pres read.pres imodisable and thats all what you need...all yob done in 15 min. includind build interface..work on all 8 16 IAWs..tested at least 15 times in last 2 monts..

why so many complication on old marelli..here on forum search for F1 files..there is small interface max232 and 4 kond. so you dont need to cut anything..yust conect to proc.on board of corse, pres read.pres imodisable and thats all what you need...all yob done in 15 min. includind build interface..work on all 8 16 IAWs..tested at least 15 times in last 2 monts..

i confirmed that the file posted by danyguit2000 works perfectly. to read and write i lift the rx and tx and i didn?t use the external power, only usb with upa programmer. thanks to all
