Good afternoon,
The instrument cluster in my 2005 audi a3 2.0 tdi has failed, no one seems able to repair it properly.
I have bought a used ecu, instrument cluster and keys that all match.
Id like to just fit the second hand instrument cluster, I think to do this it would need the vin changing to match my car and the immo information programing to my keys and then the mileage corrected.
Who or how can I do the above, what tools would I need to buy to diy?
If I fitted the second hand ecu, instrument cluster and keys then I would only need the vins changing in the ecu and instrument cluster to match my car and the mileage corrected to my vehicle, is this an easier way to go?
Thanks for any advice,
Chris.

For this car SVCI 2020 carprog will help to do the procedure or you can use a eeprom reader as CH341A and read the eeprom in the old cluster to find the pin and then you can do the procedure using VCDS if you have any tools just let me know what tools you got

you can buy second hand cluster and match to that car, without touch nothing else, but you choose to swap ecu and transponders also, for what reason? in this case you still need to mess with used ecu and cluster to change vin.... genius... :D

Wow really welcoming, I haven't fitted the other ecu and cluster yet, they were for sale a mile from my house for £45 so it made sense to me to buy them in case I needed to go that way, I needed another cluster anyway.
In my original post I asked which is the best way to go and how to do it, I'm aware I probably can't do it with just vcds and vag tacho that's why I asked what I do need to buy to do it.
Thanks
Chris

you just need to buy another cluster (same part number, or another compatible for your car because fuel level problem.) if original is total dead you can rebuild immo, svci can do this. good luck.

Where's the best place to buy svci from and is there a guide for how to do it?

DollaTek SOP8 SOIC8 Test Clip for EEPROM 25CXX / 24CXX + CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM Flash BIOS USB Programmer https://amzn.eu/d/ctlspvV
I've just ordered the above, I will attempt to read both sets of clocks once it's arrived and go from there.

Hello again,
So I've finally worked out how to take a dump from my instrument clusters using the ch341a.
What is the best software to use to edit/understand what's in the dumps?
On the instrument cluster I need to replace vcds shows a rom error so ideally I'd just like to copy the mileage and immobiliser information from that dump into the dump from my new cluster, rewrite that back to the chip and then hopefully I'll have a working dash with no rom errors too.
Thanks
Chris

Good evening,
Hopefully attached should be 2 dumps from my instrument clusters,
Can someone help me and either look at dump 01 and tell me why it shows a rom error when scanned with vcds, or copy the immobiliser information and mileage from dump 01 and put them in dump 02. Or tell me how to do those things?
Thanks very much
Chris.

Apologies, I just realised that the dumps in the above file are wrong, the 01 dump only read as an 8 bit chip, i've managed to get it to read as 16 bit. updated files are attached
