Hi

I've got a problem, not a joke this time. Customer tried to open a E38 cluster to change the needle plate for a nicer one. He damaged the needle motors and bought a newer 2001 cluster and he brought the cluster to another dashfixer. This guy could not adjust mileage because it jumped back and some functions where missing. He came to me and I said you must buy a same cluster with same HW SW so he brought it tonight but there is the famous red dot on the cluster. Before and after changing mileage. I checked the EWS and the mileage was 983808km instead of 196200? That explains the red dot I think, the cluster VIN is also not right DK38287 should be DK38236, can I change the VIN with BMW scanner or carsoft? If yes how? If I change the EWS to 316km and the VIN to DK38236 will the red disapear, or is there another way to remove the red annoying dot?

Cluster hw 5 software 7

Thanks,

Peter

wrong milage will not give you red dot its the incorect vin that give you the tamper dot. you must read dash eprom and change vin. pa soft may do it depending on what chip is in there otherwise you have to read direct.

Hi ..do not need P.A soft for Vin-change on E38 if if cluster is high+ike hw:07 sw:15.

Vin is on line 0x080: right after the partnr. Take a good look and your find it

Find in dump : 444b 3338 3238 37= DK38287
and there write: 444b 3338 3233 36= DK38236

on line 0X080: first you have part-nr , then xxxxxxxxx vin

Good Luck ! if can not do post dumpfile ..
