Hi, this Micra does not have the solder points on the back of the board, you are thinking of the later Micra with 93c66, this has a 93c46 chip it will read on board if you short out the crystal (small metal can) clip it with croc clip or solder wire across the 2 legs.

I have two manuals of this car one said remove eprom and the clip onboard, if you are smart remove this eprom and program. It's more save.

Just do it with the eprom still on the board, i done an almera, micra, primera all with the clip and eprom on the board with my tacho universal will come back with unequal data adjust clip but this is nothing to worry about as long as you have a good connection and the machine is working for more than 5 secs

plz dont give bad advice on this forum as people will actually try wateva advice any1 gives them

As Dr Peter has said, it is best 2 REMOVE eeprom for programming, maybe on this model you cud get away with it but the BEST advice is 2 remove eeprom, that way you hav less chance of corrupting the eeprom.

when the tacho says data unequal mate it means something is wrong. ie the mileage mite be done but your needles dont work, sound familiar???

Where in Ireland are you?
The problem with a test clip is sometmes it powers up the board so it depends on each individual board and as said always try to short the crystal. Always take a little abrasive and clean the legs before connecting, take 3 reads and compare them with a hex editor juast incase before writing. IMHO once you get the hang of desoldering/soldering its nearly as quick and more reliable.
