Hi I don't know what they mean by power hold relay, the engine management and fuel pump relays are in the engine compartment fuse box, the only other relay that might be called a power hold relay, is the wide open throttle relay this disconnects the A/C clutch when the throttle is wide open, this is also in the engine compartment fuse box.

Hi I don't know what they mean by power hold relay,
The word from the back alley (rather than the street) is that later fords call the 'engine control relay' the 'power hold relay'
Again word from the back alley is it is one of the larger relays in the fusebox, which has a permantent live to 30 and 85, 86 (or is 85) is switched by the ecu, the output from this relay, powers the 'engine' fuses, including power 12volt to the airflow meter.
Use this information with caution as the guy in the back alley was grinning like a flea bitten Chesire cat.

I post it again!!!
When you ask some informations, it would be good to share us ALL the aditional features that will help you and us to find the right locations, number, etc...
So, the informations required are :
Manufacture and model (ex : VW Golf 2!);
Engine (type - AXY, capacity - 1.8, Fuel - Diesel, Horse power : 80);
VIN number if you ask for damage parts;
Another supplimentar informations if you look for some specific area (type of airbag - Bosch AB8, ABS - bosch 5.3, automated gearbox : DP0).
Sorry, but i cannot help you in this conditions!!

predadan79 your last 6 posts has been this same message, in this instance bebiloku has supplied enough information to assist him.
P0251 is caused by fuel pressure deviating from the required pressure, it can be logged when the pressure is high or low.
If low it usually causes bad or no starting, if high it can cause the injection system to go into limp mode, this usually occurs when the engine is under heavy load.
It can be caused by the pump, IMV valve on the back of the pump, fuel rail pressure regulator or pressure sensor.

look on the real data of the rail pressure when the injector crack

My job is technical hotliner for a multibrand network, so, when I asked all that stuff I did it for a good and normal reason. Maybe for you, altough are many different injection systems, is enough, but for me, as professional, NO.
If you look at 2 different engine, with the same capacity, for the some cars you will be verry suprised when you will see the huge diferences.
I will atached 2 different screenshots taken from ESI 2010, so you all could make a real opinion.
Cheers

So, normally, this fault code is related about the main relay.

hi all,
ford 2002 tddi, came with a fried (fried i mean burnt) alternator,
replaced with new oem, works ok for few kilometers. but after restart, the baterry sign in dash remains lit and i have no throttle control (cannot accelerate beyond idle).the error from ecu is "p1631 main relay (power hold) ".i cleaned the relay bay in the engine compartment (was kinda dusty) , worked again for some kilometers then at restart same p1631.
Checked the entire fusebox up and underneath, for loose or burnt wires , only found one relay with green stuf and corrosion on pins, replaced with new.after mounting all togheder it works.for few hours...
i have to mention that it only acts this way on new start. it doesnt do it while driving
the schematic for fuse box is this Image:Engine bay relays.jpg - FordWiki.co.uk (http://fordwiki.co.uk/index.php/Image:Engine_bay_relays.jpg)
any clue apreciated
thanks all and regards,

sounds like has lost voltage sense and is overchargine lol

if it's a smart charge alternator, disconnect multiplug & take multimeter reading at battery, as meaty says it sounds like it has lost sensing signal

tried today with scope on the two wires that comming from ecu,
one is pwm excitation for charging the other one is some kind of pulse (rotational????) comming from alternator to ecu??. when i have pwm i have charging. when there is no pwm.. and no pulse then no charging. today for the first time the battery light came on while driving. I susspect ecu now because i know that the car had an 500 watt audio before caming to service, so in the process of frying the first alternator the circuits behind pin 32 and 72 got damaged somehow , an behaving erraticly.
also got an ideea from here "http://www.fordmondeo.org/forum/showtopic.php?tid/822001/" that the battery coud be the one who's messing the circuits... . does anyone have an schematic for the ecu
thanks

tried today without the 3 pin cable, it doesnt charge at all
with smart charge it charges only when it wants to..

thanks for help
