Blindbeck, for daf lf 45, brakepad wear sensors warning fault, at bulkhead connector- i believe large yellow connector locate blue wire 3406 & earth this wire out joining on a wire with ring terminal screwing to bulkhead. this will knock off brake wear warning. for running issues it could be air or fueling, but for air side check sensor on inlet manifold - 4 pin - 5v power in, earth, temp signal out & pressure signal out. these sensors are prone to playing up - same part as oil pressure/ temp sensor

I want to fit a tracker. It will run off 9-30V but there's not much headroom when charging a 24V battery so I'd prefer to run it off 12V. Anyone have any diagrams for this bit? TIA.

i take it that it's not genuine tracker as you don't need to charge batteries for these. if you want 12v system the best way is to run 2 droppers so you can use 2 12v supplies & 2 earths to connect to. just remove fuseboard & connect droppers to any 1000 / 1010 wires you can find. only drawback is droppers will be permanently live so i'd use 5a droppers

I think I've confused you there! The unit is from Enfora and runs from 9-30V and, as far as I'm aware, doesn't have an internal battery. The truck's 24V supply is over 28V when it's being charged by the alternator so I don't want to run it directly from that. However, the truck does have a 12V supply - for the radio and a lighter socket - so I'd like to hook into that somewhere. The Enfora likes to know the state of the ignition switch so I'd like that as a 12V signal too. If possible, I'd also like to know the state of the door switches and whether the wireless remote is locked.

you could just tap into daf dropper - on n/s behind dash. use 1000/1010 feed for perm 12v supply & 1020 for ignition supply for ign switch state. then just use dropper earths. as for the door pin switches these work on 24v to body earth so you'd be mixing 12v /24v systems. i'd just connect to 24v system as it should not charge above 28.6v as this would damage the ecu's on the vehicle anyway. at least this way you could tie it into pin switches & locking when vic goes into sleep mode

Thanks for that. I'm just a bit wary 'cos it says in big red letters in the manual:
The MT-GL (GSM2218) is designed to operate from 9 to 30 VDC. The user is responsible for ensuring the voltage supplied to the MT-GL remains in this voltage range to include transient voltage spikes and load dump voltages. Failure to comply with this warning may result in damage to the MT-GL. I've found a unit labeled "CDS-3" which appears to control the central locking. Is there a wiring diagram for this?

dafdiagnos

cds3 is for the central locking, no separate diagram as such. looking into it, the cds3 works in conjunction with vic sending switched earth pulse signals to motors to operate motors. easiest way to get round this would be to go off interior lights which power down when vic goes into sleep mode when doors locked & 'wakes' when doors unlocked putting courtesy lights back on

Many, many thanks for all this dafdiagnos but don't worry about it overly. I'm after a signal that says locked/unlocked so that the tracker knows how much information to report. I can use a separate 'key' (plug in connector with loopback) but was just looking to make life a bit easier for myself. I've found the 14V regulator and everything I really need is around there.

And on a completely different tack: During its MOT, the tester spotted that a cover on the forward prop-shaft bearing had come adrift so that now it just slides down the prop-shaft. Do I just need to hammer it back into place or is it more complicated than that?

if you mean the metal plate on the centre bearing it is best to replace as it will just keep working loose m8

Here's a pic of the offending bearing. It's not right at the back of the gearbox but one step further to the rear. If I try to push the plastic(?) ring forwards by hand then it just slips back again. Perhaps it just needs a good thump to get it seated properly.

thats part of the dust cover off the centre bearing m8, i'm afraid the only way to fix that is to replace it

for t30- permanent feeds just pick up from a 1000 supply, for t15- ign feed use a 1010, earths are white m8

the interface is a rare item at the moment, you can buy one from daf but they can be up to 10000euros for basic diagnostic spec m8

Hi dafdiagnos,
do you have a pinout of the Davie connector by the drivers seat of an LF series, I want to make an adapter to connect a Cummins 9 pin Deutsch connector to the J1939 pins in the Davie connector, plus Bat + and -.
