:top:well it's a long story, not sure if is a common problem but a friends indicator stalk spontainously combusted and when they tried to remove the steering wheel the captive nuts on the airbag, started spinning in there holders so the muppet had the luck of being able to smash off the airbag without removing his own skull from detonating it.
Anyhow they are now replacing the steering wheel with a standard unit and I am looking at disconnecting the airbag ecu to stop airbag light coming on.
As for the position I am going to look at it in a couple of days as I told them to remover the center console but they cannot find it there so it makes sence that it may be bulkhead mounted.
Thanks again

Indicator stalk full of grease, fluff and pubes
Just remove the bulb instead, as it now has a fault stored it won't trigger the passenger one
Riv nuts spinning, unlucky, more like the bolts were tight and the dumb ~~~~ overtighterned them the wrong way and destroyed them like that?
In theory as long as the airbag is unplugged it can't go off, but then again
once had a spare steering wheel with the airbag fitted, had to drop it of to some1. went to theboot opened it and threw it it, BANG, popped the airbag on contact with boot floor
But not being there he might have been wearing nylon underwear and a shell suit! STATIC, awesome

right ok will try that then as did't think it would be a bulb, quite often they use a diode,
whilst I have your attention I have a Jeep cherokee sport 2.5 petrol, it seriously over heated after the core plugs corroded threw. in fact it overheated so badly (Coolant guage showed normal as coolant disapeared so air did not transmit heat as well) that a piece of valve fell in bore causing several small indents in the top of the bore and around the edge of the piston. cannot get a motor for love or money as most seem to have 2.5 diesel or 4 litre petrol not a 2.5 ltr petrol like mine.
Anyhow I am thinking of just honeing the bore and leaving the piston alone (hoping will not detonate and the rings are ok) slaping a set of core plugs & a head gasket and risking it but reckon Local Jeep dealer here in the channel islands use the lottery show numbers for prices. do you know of a place to get core plugs Headgasket kit aftermarket cheeper in the uk. Looked on e-bay and checked a few normal haunts but no go.

Yeah, you don't have much to loose, as long as first 1000 miles in the country, rather than the big bad city, incase it goes bang, just take the plates off and leave it where it dies.
If the engine is that rare, and you do manage to get one it's going to be megga deer, and you don't know if that's done the same, so yeah, do it.
