Hi
I'm guessing you scanned the car and the code pointed to the gear shifter being faulty. If the problem is the switch just bypass it to see if at least it solves your problem before buying anything.

Hello friend.
This is only for 2017 Golfs and there are 2 types of levers (brands).
In your car, try to see what faults you have related to the lever and the ODIS, follow the fault.

Hi
Unfortunately i don't have the wiring diagram. I think without opening the shifter you can't bypass the switch. Or at least i don't know how to do it without opening the shifter

Yes after taking top lever cover I pressed the yellow button and managed to release gear liver but car still will not start, although I can start car with direct wire to starter motor, the brake light switch looks ok because the brake lights coming on, looks like will have to find someone with odis.

if I understood correctly it doesn't work for you Y163 Electromagnetic switch for travel range switch
Is there a brake press icon on the indicator?

Do you happen to have the fault codes for the car you registered?

You can read from the value block whether the brake switch is working properly.

These levers don't tend to fail very often.

Just use any scanner for the codes. It might be the gear shifter assembly that is faulty. Or some bad connections. But yes you need to check what happens when you press the brake pedal. I think there is an indicator on the dashboard for that or just use live data you will know whether the switch is good or not.
