Has anyone had to change the heater assembly on one of these.
It has no cooling on drivers side vents, removed driver's blend door motor and the flap spindle has dropped inside the heater box.
No internal spares available from the dealers, (?1300) !ouch!
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

OOH deepest sympothy on that one.
1) Makes the reano scenic heater a REALLY nice job (is anyway)
2) Peugots have shit heater hoses that self lock - sorry, that should
self lock. M-H-M had one in (Shitron Berlingo) overheating
just put airline on the cooling system and BANG pipe not quite home
of max 15 psi lol

Yes I seem to get all the jobs that local garages do not want.
Door latches, window regulators, heater matrix, evaporators, etc.
Autodata gives 5.10 hours to remove and re-install heater assembly.
But they also give 5 hours to change either of the heater hoses.

Does depend on several key factors, but sometimes worth ~~~~ing it off or doing, depends on how busy/desprate for money you are.
What M-H-M do is tell the peasant to leave the car with us for a few days, first 1/2 days (depending on job) eg 1 day to change a rear side light, or 2 days to change headlight bulb, eg Corsa C.
Then we drop off it and do it between jobs, and charge a lesser rate, that way, the punter has a lower bill, we are not tied up getting angry with one job, then bloke of street comes in, say change a fuse, takes us 20 mins, charge one hour. Noithing lost then
That way the customer only looses there bag of crap for a few days, rather than lots of money.
As a big job ring the dealer and get an ish price, that way when punter goes off their head at a 10 hour bill, you can say dealer said.....

No, I never had this problem, but the Peugeot Tempari provides 6.30 hours of labor. Here we carry the process to dismantle the dashboard and the heater.
I hope this helps you help.

Yes as you say depends how desperate I am at the time.
Not very busy at the moment, so going to do it, trouble is I am mobile, so have to go to the garages and dealerships and do the work on their premises.
Also awkward to say no to one job, and yes to another easier job.
Hate to think what main dealer would charge for this job.
Only good thing is they know I cannot tie myself up all day on one job, so will do it over a couple of days.

all depends on your circumstanses, would be if you could get the car parked BEHIND your house and do between jobs, if it's behind your house, out of site, out of mind lol

Cool, only 2 gours to rip out dash? Awesome.
Remember BEFORE the dash goes back in to get a neutered scotchlock (jaws removed) and clip it on to a random wire which is in accessable when the dash is in, ALL French cars MUST be fitted with at least one.
Also rember to write "IF YOU CAN READ THIS, WE WAS HERE BEFORE YOU APRIL 2010" On the bulkhead somewhere.
Oh some cars, eg lexus and peugot 605 have a cavity bulkhead, which
is full of SAND for sound deading, not sure about this car, but if it has
then for a laugh drill a 3mm hole and put a self tapper in for the giggle factor.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Vanes in the heater box can be repaired also. no need to replace the heatebox.

Hi all went back today, swapped heater assembly and refitted dash, bled cooling system all OK, 3 hours, not including evacuating and re-gassing the A/C system, left the garage to do that.
Daithiireland the main dealer cannot supply any internal parts for the heater box, and I would not like to try and repair the broken flap and have it fail again.
MH no sand filled bulk head, but it has got 4 inspection covers, one of which you have to remove to access a nut holding the heater box in.

MH no sand filled bulk head, .
Daithiireland Point less repairing the thing, as it's a pig of a job and the
customer (some garage not intellgent enough to diy) would still expect a warranty.
If a new unit is purchased and fails, then the dealer is obliged to fit a replacement part at their expense (giggle) well that's what happens in Meat-City.
No sand, shame.
Did you fit a neutered Scotchlock, or leave a rude comment behind the dash?

My 407 suffers from the same heating problem you described. But can't bring myself to part with ?1000 for a part I can buy for less then ?50, so I just might be daft enough to try this myself. Are there any special tools that you used? I am a DIYer who possesses most of the basic tools, but any tips would be gratefully received.
Thanks CRM

When the heater is on max close all vents except the centre two. one will be cold and one hot. That is a sign of the flap connecting rod broken.
And yes it can be fixed. Remove the top of the heaterbox. There are a good few t20 screws holding it together. chemical metal does the job perfectly. mould it into the original rod shape making sure to fill the lattice sections of the original rod.
