I bought lexia from a guy on ebay and he has contacted me about some remapping hardware he has just bought. He has yet to test them though.
He received the bdm100 and kwp2000. Im just wondering if these are good enough hardware to do as professional job as I can see some remapping hardware selling for over ?1000.
I searched ebay for these tuning devices and they come with dvds with maps loaded. Although reading a few threads on the forum I understand it is not good to use these disks.
So who should I buy the maps from and how much would each one cost.
Whats more important, the maps or the hardware or both.
A remap is going to cost me ?250, so something I would like to try myself, especially since I drive a 1.4 hdi peugeot 307.
Also a friend of mine paid ?250 for a pro remap so is it possible to copy his remap files onto my ecu

CDs are sold on ebay with filesREMAPPING are not good,
these files are not tested and in many cases you can damage the engine.
The software uses bdm100 if 1242 is not good because it does not recognize the ECU last generation, bdm 1251 and 1255 is an excellent product and makes automatic checksum.
The cost of 1 file remapping for the cost of ? 250 is too high, then we must consider this professionalism, if the file is actually done professionally.
I suggest you contact a specialist in remapping which can give you the guarantee of professionalism.
If you want professional equipment is required minimum investment 3000Euro.
If you want to buy clones EOBD2 advice, and BDM1255 MPPS, with these three tools can you work on many cars.
When it happens then desolder eprom car with the necessary equipment is
Willem eprom programmer type 1 gq 4x
some new eprom
1 station with hot air.
If you need more information please contact me in PM.

Check out mpps on chiptunawarehouse for an obd2 flash tool with CAN, FREE UPDATES and RECOVERY OPTION (some ecus) for when your ass is on the line. ?1000app.
Tunings a tricky game, the car doesnt come to you broke you see and buying files is a minefield, alot of rubbish about, for every good tuners theres a hundred conmen.

if the equipment your talking bout did evrything as good as it describes itself, we wud all be millionaires, but if if you killed the ecu then ?250 wud seem a cheaper option dont you reckon??

NO you cannot just use a file from a friends ECU!! HW/SW numbers must match for starters!! VERY IMPORTANT!!
Also Pro files are most likley encrypted!!
Are you based in the UK? i have loads of bits and pcs which may be of interest to you..

My mate see somewhere 'KWP 2000' he had no idea about it, so he brought one from ebay, looking at the "10,000,000,000 FREE TUNING FILES AND INSCTRUCTIONS FOR A DIY TOASTER REPAIR" lOOKING At the discs the 'maps', you have no idea if they are standard or modifyied, let alone if they are for a car, they might be just tuning files for a potato packing machine.
Save the first 2 discs use the rest for drinks coasters.
I got a KWP2000 from ebay, it came with just the usb driver disc, so pleased, removes the temptation to 'fiddle' with peoples cars.
Oh just in case you are woundering, the reason for buying a KWP2000
why i have a KWP2000, but only intend on using it for 'emergency' jobs, is two reasons, 1) was going to a party (but lost the invite) 2) When ever downtown and pick a bird up, can show her it.

? 250 for remapping ONLINE does not guarantee service and professionalism is not secure professionalism and security.

if you have a slave tool then encrypted files are around 75-150, but this only comes with a franchise, open bin files could be dearer. Look up Pendle Performance on ebay, he has a good rep.

Vag com would be the ticket, the generic obd2 mode is good for fault codes.

you can find on ebay a lot of cloned tools, some are good some are not, but your worst enemy is your own ignorance, because you try to do something you dont have a clue about; a cloned tool used by someone with experience may be good, and do the job, but if you dont know eaven how an ecu realy looks like or if you look for it near your spear tire, go to a pro because maybe you will do one maybe two but sooner or later you will break something and the cost will be bigger than the gain.
