Hi, while replacing the cylinder head gasket I took the time to clean out the throttle housing with brake cleaner as it was fairly gunged up.
Problem is that now that the car is running again it's not right and the warning light is illuminated with the message that there's a problem with the anti pollution system.
With my super cheapo fault code reader I read off the fault codes:

0121 Throttle position sensor/switch A Circuit range/performance problem

0122 Throttle position sensor/switch A Circuit low input

0123 Throttle position sensor/switch A Circuit high input

1157 Lack of downstream heated O2 sensor (HO2S 22) Switch, Sensor indicates lean (Bank #2)

All codes except 0123 can and have been cleared but 0123 stays put and the car runs like a pig...

I've ordered a Lexia 3 diagnostic setup but until that arrives can anyone help ? I should say that I did open the butterfly by hand when cleaning the throttle housing, would this upset it and it maybe needs to be reset somehow ?

Thanks in advance Colinxm

Code P1157 usually is a problem with the motorized throttle, but exact description varies with engines (and the exact ecu used).
You can find the engine code in position 6 through 8 of the vin-number.

Thanks for your interest, vin number is: VF33HNFUB********** I think I upset it by moving the butterfly manualy...

Definitely some sort of problem with the motorized throttle. I would seek help from an expert/professional.

Cheers for identifying the culprit, I'll have another play with it but would like to sort it myself as profesional help in Norway is not easy to come by and ridiculously expensive...

battery off, wait ten mins, battery on, ignition on 1 min, ignition off, then try starting, if that don't work then your throttle body is ~~~~ed, 150 pounds + vat, peugot sell LOTS of them.

Enjoy your stay here on DK the worlds BEST website.

Beware the problem may be in the plug of the engine trottle happened that some cables were defective. You check with oscilloscope and the wiring all signals:
PIN 3 = ground.
PIN 5 = 5V (power position sensor.)
PIN 4-6 = double lane trottle signal (the voltage is proportional to the position of trottle).
PIN 1-2 = square wave positive or negative (0 and +or-12V), motor control trottle.

Cheers Cars, unfortunatly I don't have access to an oscilloscope myself so will have to do some asking around.
It's now giving fault code 0106 (MAP sensor problem) as well as 0123 - bloody thing must be on self destruct :-(

The problem may be in the intake manifold which has a strong aspiration of air (Example Brake Assist or seal), the MAP would mark too high and trottle engine fails to calibrate the minimum storing errors.
Once I've a machine with a minimum and many bad mistakes in ECU was out of phase with the timing belt.

Thanks for the additional information, the relatively small head gasket job is turning into a bit of an epic...

Best wishes Colinxm
