I just got my dreambox 500c

I was reading through the sticky threads.

I just need to confirm that I need to flash the dreambox 1st before i can start using?

What is enigma? It appears in the sticky but do i need to install enigma also?

switch your box on and let it boot up.

if its come with an image on it , it will show up during boot up.

once its booted up , it should ask you to set it up.

If its a basic enigma image you will only get free to air channels, so you will need to flash another image on it.

you will need keys, roms, and a cam to get it running.

if your correct and you read all the stickies , you will find all the info on doing this.

I recommend DK image or PLi

Will read through every single thread.

Was quite worried when i read about the Gemeni Image, cause when i boot up, i saw the Gemeni Image.

I got a friend who got the same box as mine, but he got it all flash and all channels and bouquets set up.

Can i just copy all his stuff and use it on mine?
Do i still need to flash the image?
After i flash, can i just copy his files and overwrite mine?

you cant use his back up unless he has the same image on as you, because when you try to flash it, it will corrupt the box and it will freeze on bootup.

so unless he got Gemini, go for a clean flash, there is plenty of images on here, get you mate to send you the var folder from his box, then you can pick out the files you need to get yours running.

use the guide that is for the box you have?? :D

Image - firmware for the box.
Keys - 2 sets of 16 alphanumeric characters used to encrypt the channels so that you need to pay to view them
rar - a file that has been archived using a program called Winrar (like WinZip only with greater compression).
