Caterpillar Engine Flash Files
I'm working in this truck: GM 1998 Caterpillar 3126 w/ Auto Transm. Engine S/N 7AS43698-NW, with flash file 1894824 (thanks to tonyspamone for this flash file, finally the truck it's working) WITHOUT EPA LoNox Cert.,
It gives me an interlock of 52 (Personality Module 52) with 190 HP @ 2200 and 520 lb-ft @ 1440.
I need to add more HP and torque probably 220 to 280 HP and 700 to 850 lb-ft
It seems (not sure) that I can not use the flash files in these DVDA9021-71 and DVDA9020-71 disks because all have the EPA LoNox Cert.?

I would like to try this files

From my recent experience, no, it must match the personality module or interlock. Otherwise the flash file will not work. Check if it's or not low nox too.
Please help with the old flash files post #26.

SIS stands for service information system ie. component testing/replacing, torque specs, repair procedures, and such.
Flash files are for "flashing" or re calibrating ecm's.

If you give me the engine serial number I can tell you what the flash file history is on it. (Original flash file for that engine when made plus all of the updated flash files created for it) M

Those are all going to be the rating that came out of the factory. If it started life as a 435 I don't think it can be uprated past 450 without changing internals.

I'm pretty sure they'll all be the same HP but I can double check for you. Also, I'm assuming as long as the engine type and other engine related specs are the same or similar then you should be able to increase the HP.

Just check that it's for the proper engine, check cross reference file.

Hey guys i have a question. Say i have a MBN engine. Put a 7CZ ecm on it. What are the best fls/fts codes to run. I have the 6999 injector codes aswell.

74 and -19 are about the best you can also run 127 and 0 or 127 and 5. But as far as milage and temps go the 74 and -19 are the best.

I have had good luck runing the 625 2300 rpm file with 62 and -17 fls fts. The acerts are very picky you need to make sure all the basics are good like a VERY tight intake system with no leaks and at least 100 psi fuel pressure at high idle. Also the acerts respond well to the fuel temp wire so give that a try.

Wrenchead a 435 6nz has many different hard parts than 455 and above 6nz. The pistons are different they are 18:1 comp ratio where as the higher hp ones are 16:1 the cams are different also along with the injectors and turbo. You can uprate it to a 450 wich is a field uprate only without changing any hard parts.

Good catch, I misread that it was a 455, for sure there are lots of parts to replace, as you stated, cyl paks, cam, inj and turbo

If I'm remembering correct, on a c7 your flash file must match your injector #'s or it wont hardly run. I do know on a c7 that if one injector goes bad you must replace all six. I'm almost positive your injectors will determine what flash file you can use. So if injectors have been changed and customer doesnt know thier # it involves a lot of work. Personally, I have been asked to uprate c7's but turn them away.

Hi,

I have a MXS32648 which had a bad ECM, it was replaced, when replaced there was no ECM Replacement backup so some shop just copied the ECM Replacement from a similar truck from the fleet owner. The Issue here, is that the driver says that the truck is not running strong as before the ECM problem.
It can be possible that the configuration of the injectors is wrong and it needs, possible, trim files for the injectors?
I would appreciate your advice to fix this issue.

transmicion works just fine but the engine doesnt have any torque in it
i was told that the ecm was replaced on this unit just before i started working here and that its never been the same bus ever since.
i tried uploading calibrations from another bus that is the same but it just wont reaspond.

most likely you have a mismatch between ecm and injectors leading to

3126 and c7's .. you need to match your flash file to your injectors.. there is only one sure way to find out what injectors you have .. good luck!

They look like arrangment Numbers u also need engine numbers to it looks like its a D6N with a 3126B the engine No Prifix sholuld start with 5GG or BMA or CSW with 5 numbers after it hope this helps
