Under my front window wasp like insects are emerging from little holes in the ground.
They look like a wasp but don't appear to be aggressive.
Anyone know what they are?

you lot are so rough with your solutions.
get a microwave, with a mechanical timer, rip the door off, link out the saftey switches, put on an extenshion lead and leave on for an hour or so, face down on the nest, no more ants or wasps or anything else that goes by, and if anything does survive, you know it won't be breeding :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

They could be Hover Flies which look similar to wasps and can be found on Sallie trees when the bark oozes sap. May have been hibernating so nows your chance to collect rent. You can look it up but I dont think they sting which would be a bloody cheek after you provided them with accomodation for the last six months. Gee, the ungrateful little B******S. They could be flying ants but they dont look like wasps.

A freind of mine has told me thatThey are probably, solitary bees.he has them burrowing into the lawns, etc, round his way. About an inch long , brown body with a red backside?
They leave a hole about the diameter of a pencil with soil piled up round it.
If it flies , it dies. If it slithers, it wither's.... And finally.... If it's weird, its feared

It's quite exciting that they are bees and not wasps.
I read somewhere that if bees disapeared from the earth humanity would only last another 10 years!
It would upset the planets eco system so much.
