I'm using KESS 2 protocol 405 for edc17c10. It is able to write only (not possible to read over OBD), so every time before starting write KEss asks for original file.
I am tired of pointing the same file all over again, is there any way around it?
p.s.
I tried puting ori file to backup folder in kess install directory but no change..
Any help is welcomed!:ciao:

I understand that, my question is can I put ORI somewhere so Kess can automatically find it?

I think that when you ID ECU and reading is not possible (such as for protocol 405) Kess shod contact alientech servers and look for ID it just met, then if same ID exist on server it shod download original full (virtual) read to some folder.
I am sure of that as there is string in Ksuite.exe "The original file corresponding to the ID of the vehicle has been saved in " and "Download original files to use when the reading is not available." suggesting that if virtualread file is found kess will be able to calculate check-sums tool automatically makes before write.
If anyone has such a case please test and look for new files, my guess is it will be in \res\ori\ folder possible in folder numbered as protocol or id number (e.g. 405)..

jesus, such a strange suggestion. How many times are you writing same ECU when 10-15 seconds job will make your life easier?

Its not strange, its just a question, but to satisfy your curiosity I have been developing custom tunes for edc16 in last few years.
Usually I'm writing 2-3 times in a week, sometimes few times a day. When tune gets beter then intervals increase.
Recently I'v started a new project on edc17c10 and this asking for original file really irritates me.
There is a way I'm sure, I just have to find it :)
