Linux for ps3

Its time to give linux another go. Can anyone advise me what is the most up to date download. A young lad told me there are things i can do on a ps3 with linux that i can't do on my laptop. Can anyone enlighten on what he might be talking about. thanks for replies chappies.:top:

Have you updated the PS3 firmware since April 1st this year
That update removed the option to install "other OS"
and as far as i am aware there is no way to roll back to a previous firmware

I didn't install the update, sony gave me the option of online gaming or other os ( nice of them) so for me its other os. I'm thinking of getting the slim for online gaming.
